STILL IN THE GRAMPIANS |

One afternoon we set out on a 7km walk to The Pinnacle, an iconic peak of The Grampians. We started from the Grand Canyon car park, and the first half hour or so was spent hiking up this beautiful rocky gorge - the Grand Canyon of the Grampians. The canyon is a popular walk, and walkways and handrails make it accessible for the less agile tourists who wish to see it. |

The steep climb out of the Grand Canyon |
Most of the walk from the Grand Canyon to The Pinnacle is over rock. Near the top of the range the track enters a long narrow slot called Silent Street , which, while not as big as the Grand Canyon, is spectacular in its own way. The exit is so narrow I had to take off my backpack to get through. |

On top of The Pinnacle, a cold wind was blowing but the view down into the valley was worth it. |
