Teaching Philosophy
I believe it is essential to ensure a safe, non-judgmental environment that will encourage my

students to express their ideas and opinions.  My teaching methods will include those that allow

my students to learn from their own and others' experiences and those that help them to think

independently.  I believe it is important to reach out to students to show that I care about who

they are and what they are interested in.  I believe that thoughtful lesson planning can help

minimize disruptive behavior.  Actions often speak louder than words and I will model

appropriate adult behavior that my students can look to for guidance.  I believe it is important

to challenge my students.  I believe that, ultimately, each student is responsible for his or her

own education and, as far as possible, I will encourage each student to follow a course of study

that is important to him or her.
