~ I Wish Upon You, Whom I Love, Misfortune ~

(Every Wednesday, 6 pm)
Kae:"Sorry I'm late! Sensei!"
Sensei:"Good for you! You'll have to stay back for another 30 minutes as punishment."
Kae:"Stay back? Alright (she hugs him from behind) what will we do?"
Sensei:(popped vein mode)"No, that wasn't what I meant."

Sensei hands Kae the piece "Everything's Gonna Be Alright" by Sweetbox and Kae comments that it's originally composed by Bach and she likes this piece. Sensei tells her that since she likes the piece, she should practice with more enthusiasm. Sensei tells Kae that as it's a modified piece, it should be easier for her. Her mind wanders as Sensei instructs her on the use of the pedal and how she should go about playing the piece etc.... She thinks to herself that his hair has grown long again. Sensei turns to ask her if she's got any questions (after all that instruction) and she's staring hard at him (SD Mode). "Yes, I've got a question. What brand of shampoo do you use?" ^_^ You can imagine Sensei's reaction. ^_^

"So both of you ended up quarrelling again?" Nobu asks Kae. She tells him that it's bcos Sensei never pays any attention to what others are saying. Nobu laughingly agrees. Nobu tells Kae that Tamaki is due back in town on a modelling assignment. Kae shakes the can of beer she's holding, as she gets all excited about Tamaki's high profile job. Nobu tells her to pop a can of beer and she ends up with beer all over herself. (she opened the can she'd been shaking) ^_^; Nobu tells her to help herself to the toiletries in the bathroom. As she undresses, she thinks it feels odd undressing in some other persons house. She smiles as she notices that Sensei uses Seabreeze shampoo.

Whilst she's in the bathroom, Sensei returns and complains about the strong smell of beer in the house. Before Nobu can explain, Sensei's making his way to the bathroom. He opens the door before Nobu shouts at him to stop! This scene's really funny. Both of them stare at each other in silence. (Kae's in her underwear) He's expressionless as he asks her what she's doing and Kae's so stunned, she just answers as normal, telling him that she's got beer all over herself. Sensei tells her to let him know when she's done, he'd drive her home. (imagine this conversation between 2 people, talking as normal, but Kae is in her underwear!!!?) ^_^ The next 2 frames you just seen Kae standing in silence looking at the door. [I think she's still in shock]
Nobu wonders about the sudden silence. ^_^ Sensei lights a cigarette and thinks (what the hell does she think she's doing? Getting undressed in a man's house?!)

The next day, Kae asks the shop manager and Uchida if grown man are used to seeing girls in their underwear. [she must be wondering about Sensei's lack of reaction ^_^ ] Needless to say, the 2 men are really uncomfortable and Uchida heaves a sigh of relief when Tamaki happens to step into the store.
Sensei steps out from the music room to greet Tamaki and Kae blushes furiously as she recalls the incident the day before. Puzzled, Sensei glances her way "Kae?" She mutters that she'll be in the music room and slams the door behind her.
The shop manager, Uchida and Tamaki gather to gossip about Sensei, saying that he must have done something to Kae.
Sensei's looking on in popped vein mode ^_^ As Sensei instructs Kae on how to go about playing the piece for the day, she's still terribly uncomfortable, blushing furiously. She thinks that even a simple thing like the scent of his shampoo puts her at a loss
[actually she says, makes her mind blank, but it sounds a little odd ^_^]
He comments on her loads of mistakes for that piece and asks if she's alright when he notices her flushed complexion. He asks if she's having a fever and reaches out. Panicked, Kae moves away "W..Wait! Don't touch me! I'm going home!" She hurriedly leaves the room.

Tamaki sees Kae pacing back and forth along the street outside Sensei's apartment. Kae tells Tamaki, she has no idea what's up with herself. She just feels so self conscious around Sensei all of a sudden and that if she were an adult, such an incident wouldn't have occured at all.
Tamaki smilingly tells Kae that Sensei is an idiot, so he won't understand a thing unless Kae explains. Tamaki even encourages her by pointing to her music score, "Everything's Gonna Be Alright"

Kae steps into the apartment. "Sensei are you there." (When you like someone, things don't run smoothly. But that's precisely why everyone wants to believe - everything's gonna be alright) "Sensei?"
Kae spots him fresh from a shower with a towel draped over his head. He turns away. Kae:"Ah..! Sensei about today..."(is he sulking?) "I'm really sorry." He continues facing the wall, away from her.
Kae steps in front of him, leaning in for a kiss. "Please don't be mad." She stares at him to gauge his reaction.
Sensei: "Did you think you'd resolve the matter so easily?"
Kae: "O..Once more?"
Sensei: "Once more."
Kae: "Is that enough?"
Sensei: "No, more."
Kae: "M..More??" (she's all flushed)
Sensei's smirking at her. "Sensei you're such a lech!" a blushing and irritated Kae says. "Hmm.... I dislike that part of my character too" an unrepentant Sensei replies. ^_^

Tamaki returns from buying her cigarettes and sees Kae fast asleep.
Tamaki: "Ahh... falling asleep with such a peaceful trusting expression. Masayuki, it's gonna be tough on you."
Sensei:(smilingly) "I know."

32 Cigarettes!! cough....cough.... That damn American next to me is filling my lungs with smoke! cough... [this was written in English, not translated by me, so don't start sending hate mail! ^^;] If I get lung cancer, I'll blame that American!! A stylish man steps out of the airport and smiles at a childhood snapshot of Kae. It's been awhile.....

"You leaving?" a young Kae, hugging a teddy bear, asks. "Nope, I'm not going anywhere." a blurred image of a guy replies.
"Hey, Kae! Don't sleep at such a place. I'll see you home." Sensei says as he catches her dozing at a table. Uchida who notices that Kae's looks a little dazed, asks if she's o.k.
Kae: "Ah...um.. I think I was dreaming."
Uchida: "Dreaming?"
Kae: "About my childhood... it might be due to the oldies playing on the radio."
Uchida: "Oh, you mean "Best Of My Love" by The Emotions? Hm.. considering how young you are, your knowledge of oldies is impressive."
Kae: "I think it's bcos we had this record back then."

Sensei calls out to Kae and they head off together. On the way, Sensei asks if Kae called home to inform them of her whereabouts at such a late hour. She tells him that she did, and reassures him that it's no problem at all. Sensei insists that she stop waiting for him after work as her family would worry about her. She asks if he's been real busy lately. He tells her, Yes!
"Can't I wait for you?" she pleads again. "Nooope..." is his reply, putting Kae into an SD bad mood (^^)
They meet a guy on the way and he rants on about not being able to contact Sensei. He tells Sensei to get a handphone but Sensei indifferently replies that owning one would be a bother. ^_^ The guy spots Kae and asks Sensei who she is. "She's a student" is his reply. Kae looks a little sad at such an introduction.

Whilst they're in the car, Kae ponders (I think adults are such accomplished liars...). She asks Sensei if that guy was looking for him due to work, and he confirms that. "I'm a student?" she blurts out.
"Well, that's not a lie. I can't bring myself to let others know that I'm being baffled/troubled by a young girl." Sensei replies "You're troubled? Because of me? Sensei...?" Kae looks stunned. Sensei glances at her in the mirror "Would you like my reply to be No? Always getting twirled round your little finger, that's the cause of all the trouble."
Kae pulls him over by his sleeve and leans in for a kiss. "Hey.. Hey..! Hey...! [there's this pic of Sensei's car screeching and drivers around blaring their horns at him as he swerves(^^)] Behave yourself when I'm driving!! Really.....that's so typical of you!" is his sweatdropped reaction.
Kae faces the other way and looks out the window but we can see that she's blushing (Even if you're lying, I'm ecstatic - If I were to blurt that out, he'd surely laugh at me).

Kae arrives home to see a pair of shoes at the door and wonders who it could be at such a late hour. Someone is having a conversation on the phone and Kae thinks that he's real loud! She enter the hall and we see that guy from the airport. "Kae?" he turns to greet her. She looks shocked and stares at him in silence. Nae walks in and asks if Kae remembers Uncle Ryujo.
At the dinner table, Kae silently eats as Uncle Ryuji catches up on old times with Kae's parents. He laughingly admits that he didn't recognise Kae as she's changed so much! "That's because the last time you saw her was before you left for the States. She's changed alot since - Kae was so sticky to you then!" Kae's mother laughs. Kae's father admits that due to his work, he wasn't able to spend time with her, which explains Kae's attachment to Uncle Ryujo then. "Oh...right Kae, I almost forgot, here's your gift. You love it right? Your favourite teddy bear!" he grins [it's huge...(^^;) about the size of Kae] Nae chuckles as she tells Uncle Ryujo that Kae is no longer a 10 yr old kid. He reaches out to place his hand on top of Kae's head and she abruptly turns away, claiming that she's got to catch up with her schoolwork.
Kae's father says that it might be due to the length of time spent apart, so she's a little ill at ease with Uncle Ryujo. "Her bad habit of not dealing well with new people remains unchanged huh?" an exasperated Ryujo says.

There's a flashback and again, we see a young Kae hugging a teddy bear.
Kae: "Arent' dad and mom back yet?"
Ryujo: "That's right, they're tied up at work. You feeling scared? lonely?"
Kae: "Will Ryujo stay here?"
Ryujo: "Yeah.. always..!"
Kae: "Then, I won't be afraid."
(Always...)

The next morning, as Kae gets ready for school, she overhears that Uncle Ryujo will remain in Japan for the time being, due to work commitments. Kae's mother invites him to stay with them, telling him he should have home cooked food. Uncle Ryujo turns and greets Kae a good morning, Kae remains expressionless. Kae's mom tells her there's french toast and asks if she'd prefer milk or coffee. Kae makes her way to the door and informs them that she's skipping breakfast and that she'd be back home late due to her piano lesson. She leaves and Uncle Ryujo looks stunned.

(Always....) Kae steps into the music school and the shop manager and Uchida are discussing about Sensei's hectic schedule. Aside from teaching at the school, he's got other work commitments. The shop manager says that Sensei isn't one who can look after himself and that Sensei looks like the type that would die young (^^;)
"If this situation goes on, do you think he'll quit being a teacher here?" the shop manager wonders. "That person is a pianist, I'd say it's likely." Uchida replies. "Hmm... then Kae's going to be lonely."

Kae looks resigned (that can't be helped.. even if it comes to that, I won't be lonely. I don't want to be labelled as his Student anyway. It'll be alright..)
Kae asks Sensei if he intends to resign due to his hectic schedule and work commitments. "A stable income is necessary for a pianist." is his sardonic reply. "I see.. " Kae looks relieved.

Another flashback, Kae's mother congratulates Uncle Ryujo on his upcoming job in New York. He tells her that he intends to keep it from Kae, cos if she cries, it'd cause him to waver. A young Kae asks Ryujo if he's heading off and he denies it, telling her he isn't going anywhere.(Adults are accomplished liars....)

Back to the present - Kae arrrives home and a record's playing. Nae tells her that Uncle Ryujo dug out his old records and that it looked like he was feeling down. There's a scene of a young Kae hugging Uncle Ryujo from behind, asking him to play that song again. They're both laughing and they look like they're having a great time. Kae silently enters the room and Ryujo has his back to her. He's mumbling to himself that he shouldn't have chosen a teddy bear as a gift and that he didn't understand teenaged girls' preferences (^^;). Kae hugs him from behind.
Kae: "Play that song again."
Ryujo: "Ka.."
Kae: "Please!"
Kae: "You just left back then, abandoning me, it felt as though you had forsaken me. That's why I couldn't acknowledge you"
Ryujo: "That's why I apologised."
Kae: "Dummy, why should you apologise."

(I was very upset back then) Flashback - Kae's mom tells her that Ryujo has left and that he won't be returning. She tells Kae that she'd make more effort to stay home in future. Kae gets hysterical and insists that Ryujo promised that he'd always be there. We see Ryujo's back as he walks away. "Wait!!" Kae cries out. He turns around and we see that it's Sensei - (will you quit your job as a teacher?) "Don't go..!" this time, it's Sensei we see walking away.
Back to the present - "Hey, Kae, don't sleep here." an exasperated Sensei wakes her. He shrugs into his coat as he turns to go "I've got to go, you should leave before it gets dark outside. I'm running late so I'll have to leave now."
Kae grabs him from behind and holds on tight "Don't go!" A perplexed Sensei asks her if she's still dreaming. "I'm not letting you go!" she insists. "Alright..alright...! we'll kid around another time o.k?" he loosens her hold and heads for the door. "Wait Sensei! Don't go..!" a forlorn Kae stands alone in the music room.

"He doesn't listen to what other's have to say at all...!" - (I knew then that in this world, there's no guaratee that the person you love would still be with you the next day.) Kae remains still, she looks crushed - (will you quit your job as a teacher?) a tear splashes to the floor. (At times like this, the difference in our ages saddens me.) She starts sobbing in earnest - (That's cos it's as if we're totally unrelated, aside from the fact that I love him.) Her face is all flushed and her eyes are teary as she turns in surprise to see Sensei standing at the door. She hurriedly swipes at her tears as she asks him why he's returned. He tells her that he'd forgotten to bring something along.

Sensei asks her what could have possibly happened for her to sob so. (In that instant...) Sensei sighs "O.K, fine, I'll listen. Talk to me." (Sensei's poker face was removed...) "Sensei, what did you forget to bring along?" Kae asks (It touched me more than when we kiss) "I've forgotten." Sensei replies (^^)

(Best of my love) is playing in the background whilst he shaves. Ryujo tells Nae that he'd wish Kae the best as an Uncle, if she were to have a boyfriend. But Nae tells him that he'd be even more posessive than Dad. Ryujo tells her that if Kae's boyfriend was some unsavoury character, he wouldn't hesitate to intervene. This causes Nae to glance worriedly at him.

~ Whisper'd In The Sounds ~

Uncle Ryujo is being interviewed and he's asked about how he decided on his career, leading to him being a world renowned photographer.
Ryujo: "I've got 2 nieces. Back then, one was 7 and the other 8. I stayed at my sister's place and was a companion to the both of them."
Reporter: "You were baby-sitting??"
Ryujo: "Yep...! I'd make a good father you know?"

Ryujo continues on, telling the reporter that one of his nieces (Kae) had an interesting temperament. She was stubborn as well as hostile to strangers, but once she got to know you, she'd often display lovely expressions. The reporter then asks if that was the picture he submitted, which was published by F Magazine and he tells her she's right. Ryujo tells her that happened 10 years ago and that successful encounter didn't mean a smooth sailing career for him after that. But he feels deep affection towards the child who provided him with that opportunity.

A car horn blares and someone calls out to Kae. She turns to see Tamaki [if you can't remember, she's Sensei's cousin] Tamaki asks if Kae is heading home and tells her to hop in.
Tamaki: "Oh right, I heard that Masayuki'd be performing tomorrow, it'd be quite late though. You want to go ?"
Kae: "I WANT TO GO !" (I want to go.... I want to go....!!)
Kae: "Ah.. Sensei'd probably start one of his lectures again."
Tamaki: "Masayuki? What would he say?"
Kae: "This place is NOT for kids." [she says this dead-pan, just like Sensei] (^^)
Tamaki: "Puha..ha.. Don't you rebel occasionally?"
Kae: "Eh?"

Kae muses, ("As long as you don't look like a kid, it'd be fine" that's what Tamaki said. But I.....) Nae calls out to her and steps into her room. Nae sees Kae, fresh from a shower in her pajamas with a towel draped over her head, with a gloomy expression. Nae asks her what's wrong, as she looks like she going to cry. She then asks Kae if it's bcos she's hungry. (^^;)
"No...that's not it." is Kae's exasperated reply. Nae exclaims over the pretty red dress she spots hanging outside Kae's closet. Kae tells her that someone loaned it to her and Nae tells her that it's beautiful and has a grown-up feel to it. Expressionless, Nae then proceeds to ask Kae if she's the one intending to wear it.(^^)
Kae hurls a pillow at Nae and tells her she's awful! Nae bursts out laughing and tells Kae that she's just kidding.

Kae: "Can't be helped. I'm aware that such dresses don't suit me. I'd make a bet with you that Sensei'd burst out laughing when he sees me."[she morosely tells Nae]
Nae: [chuckling] "Alright, then I'm betting that he won't."

Whilst Nae brushes Kae's hair she advises her against letting her relationship with Sensei be made known to Uncle Ryujo. "Hmm? Why?" is Kae's drowsy reply [she's enjoying Nae brushing her hair] Nae tells her that it's just a hunch and that she's got a bad feeling about it. (Nae thinks back to what Uncle Ryujo told her - if Kae's boyfriend was some unsavoury character, he wouldn't hesitate to intervene.) Nae tells Kae to think about it, Uncle Ryujo usually treats ladies well, but not guys. And just looking at Goshima with his attitude... she trails off as she sees that Kae has fallen asleep (^^;)

The interview is over and the reporter informs Uncle Ryujo that a complimentary copy of the magazine would be sent to him as soon as it's published. He tells her to have it mailed to his sister's place. As he's scribbling down the address, the reporter enquires about his nieces since it's been so long since they last saw him. He tells her that they've grown so much, even he can't recognise them. The reporter casually mentions that girls would change as soon as there's someone they like. "Someone they like...?" Ryujo scoffs He throw another comment over his shoulder "From an adult's point of view, it's all puppy love. For the kids in my house, it's still early to touch on this subject." he shrugs into his jacket and heads out.

We see Kae focusing and her hands are trembling... it turns out that she's trying to paint her nails. (^^;) Sensei's staring in silence, poker-faced with a cigarette held to his lips. "What are you doing?" he asks and Kae exclaims over the polish that's smudged over when she started from his sudden question. (an arrow points to Sensei - he did it on purpose ^_^ )
"Don't talk to me all of a sudden!" is her infuriated reply. "What are you doing?" Sensei nonchalantly repeats as he continues smoking. "Dyeing my fingernails." Kae informs him. Uchida and the shop manager are chuckling in the background. Dyeing fingernails??? "Painting fingernails, I meant Painting fingernails." Kae hastily corrects herself (^^)
She tells them that Nae gave her a bottle of polish, so she's practising. She crossly asks Sensei what's wrong with doing so. Sensei tells her that he didn't mention anything about it being wrong. As he strolls off, he compliments her "that just suit you SO well!" Putting Kae into a pop-veined mode "damn it! You don't have to be so sarcastic!" she shouts after him. Sensei glaces back and smiles knowingly.
(Ah.... look.. he's indeed laughing at me) Kae concludes. She tells Uchida that being with Sensei just gets one all riled up! And Uchida thinks that her poisonous/sarcastic comments are coming more naturally now (^^;) She tells Uchida that she hates being in love. "Being affected by the reaction of the person you love is such a bother." she informs him as she continues painting her nails. Uchida turns away to hide his laughter.

Kae returns home and Uncle Ryujo's there. She tells him she had classes on when he asks her why she's back so late. Kae then tells him that she's just back to get a change of clothes and she's heading out again. "Kae!" Uncle Ryujo points a trembling finger at her "That smell! You haven't started smoking have you?" he questions. She tells him that her piano teacher smokes, so the smell sticks to her after that. "Oh my goodness!" Uncle Ryujo's freaking out as he goes on and on about Kae having to suffer 2nd hand smoking as well. (^^) Kae strides off in mid-lecture, telling him that she's running out of time, putting him into pop-veined mode (^^;)

Tamaki: "Red nail polish. Did you paint them yourself?"
Kae: "Hm.. I know it doesn't suit me.. but anyway it's just for today."
Tamaki: (smiling knowingly) "That's right.. now let's go make that recluse loose his composure!"
Kae: "Eh?"

The shop manager and Uchida surprise Sensei by turning up before his gig. They sympathise with Kae, whom they assume is uninformed. Uchida and the shop manager observe that there's quite a good crowd and there're plenty of hot-looking ladies around (^^) They spot Tamaki, as she enters the club, and comment that as usual, she stands out in a crowd. "Who's that with her?" the shop manager questions "Looks like an interesting girl, where have I seen her before?
Sensei stares and has an arrested expression. [looks like he recognised her!!! (^^) there's a picture of Kae, looking grownup in that red dress and long hair - Tamaki provided a wig as well]
The 3 men stare in silence. Kae is sweating it out as she questions Tamaki if she does indeed look funny, cos even the shop manager looks weird. (^^) [to say the least, the shop manager is a basket case with an exaggerated shocked expression]
Tamaki smiles "silly girl, stand straight and remember to lift you head high." she advises Kae. We zoom into Sensei - the guy looks pole-axed! [he never knew what hit him!! (^^)] Kae's astonished by Sensei's reaction (I've lost the bet... Sensei ISN'T laughing at all...)
Uchida and the shop manager remark on the change in Kae, the composure that's not usually there. They say that it's cos they meet so often, they probably haven't noticed this side of Kae.

2 guys immediately try to hit on Kae. "Hey... the tag on your dress. You haven't removed it." they inform her. Kae blushes as she reaches over her shoulder for the tag and wonders if that's why everyone's staring at her (^^;) They offer to help her with the tag and start asking her if she's a student and if she frequents this place. They ask her if she's alone and bug her to head over to their table for a drink. Kae ineffectually tries to turn them down. A hand reaches over [you people are going to love this - there's a full page of Sensei leaning over Kae's back as he grasps her dress and proceeds to bite the tag off!!]
Senseni sweeps his fringe back and stares at the 2 guys [he looks dangerous... ^_^ ) Obviously intimidated by him, they back off. Kae stands rooted to the spot. Tamaki snickers as she calls out to Sensei for a practice session. Kae face looks like it's on fire and she's trembling ( ~ that person.... he intends to kill me ~ )

Back home, Uncle Ryujo asks his sister about the late hours Kae's keeping. She assures him that it's alright as she knows where Kae is and that she'd be chauffeurred home safely, but he looks nonplussed about the topic.

"What's with the image-changing game?" Sensei asks Tamaki when they hit the stage. Tamaki grins as she admits that she just wanted to see his reaction.
Tamaki: "You haven't thought of it have you? This is probably how she'd look in 3 years. Be prepared to be arrested by her every move then. Just like today."

She then suggests they play "Fallen" by Lauren Wood. "As you wish." Sensei agrees.
Kae watches them (that day... the piece played by the 2 of them was one that I hadn't heard before. Around her, ladies are commenting that it's from the movie "Pretty Woman" starring Julia Roberts. They also go on about how handsome Sensei is. (Although Sensei remained poker-faced, it was a beautiful piece)

They're in the car on the way home and Kae's changed back to her usual clothes.
Kae: "Sensei, you in a bad mood?"
Sensei: "Nope."
Kae: "Anyway, you just didn't like the way I dressed today, did you? Can't be helped, anyway, I won't be dressing up there way for quite awhile yet."
Sensei's detachedly smoking as he drives
Sensei: "That would be best. To be arrested by your every move, 3 years later would be soon enough."
Kae: "Eh??"
