Rocca d'Ajello is an ancient fortress of the Varano family, lords of the duchy of Camerino between the XIIIth and XVIth century. It is built on a woody hill located about 6 miles from Camerino and 30 from Macerata. The castle has 2 towers built by Gentile I da Varano around 1260. A couple of centuries later Giulio Cesare Varano turned the fortress in a villa adding to the towers a U shaped building that encloses a large courtyard.. Today the castle is privately owned and can be rented to organize events: weddings, parties, birthdays, corporate events, fashion shows, conventions, concerts. The floral decorations are produced by the Castle's florists and all the flowers are grown in the estate's gardens. |

Inebriati dalle rose |
A passion for roses |
They are everywhere. So many that you don't know where to look and what to pick, cascading from the trees, clothing the old walls in a fantastic dress made of millions of petals, clouds of pink and white with a marvellous scent. And then, uglier but so useful, modern roses in long tidy rows, straight and stiff like little soldiers with just one mission: flower, always, until the first frosts. All around, no more daffodils, irises or tulips, the time has come for the spring perennials to show their pretty faces: blue and white love-in-a-mist, coloured snapdragons, paeonies, purple columbines, foxgloves with dotted throats, blue cornflowers, sweet peas, poppies and finally the kings of borders, majestic delphiniums in all the shades of blue. |
