When attempting something like chi, it is important to meditate. The most you meditate, the stronger your chi. That's the way it goes. Meditation is nothing but sitting with oneself in pure peace and harmony of the mind with a fully focused concentration and in this case, fully focused concentration on the breath of life, their chi. When meditating, the person begins to understand theirselves and where they stand in life. Many things are achieved through meditation other than just peace and harmony. You may achieve Enlightenment through years of meditation, other abilities such as the many kinetical powers, or just plain internal strength. The more you meditate, the stronger your internal strength. A weak man will a lot of chi will easily defeat a muscular man with chi little chi in battle. It just goes to show how much internal strength ( chi ) can be vital to your life. It is important to have a clear mind during meditation. I know from experience that many thoughts arise during meditation and it is hard to stop thinking about them. You may accidentally find yourself in something known as a daydream, rather than precise meditation. Precise meditation is medition done with the clearest of clear minds. In order to meditate easily with a clear mind, you must learn to "Let Go". This was explained in the previous lesson on Clearing Your Mind. When attempting anything with chi that requires you to sit down, it is helpful for at first to sit in a big, white, wall to represent purity and stillness of the mind and the practitioner. A way to remain focused during meditation comes from the book * To focus during meditation, it is helpful to count. One may silently count "one" on the inhale, and "two" on the exhale. If a thought flits in, one should just start over again fron "one". Even for advanced students, it is hard to get past "one!"* This becomes very important in training. And make sure that even if you get a milisecond's thought, you must start back at one. Try to train everyday for about a week for this. Start off by "Letting Go" for about 2-3 minutes. Just take it slowly. Then start the meditation. You must with the chi kung counting meditation half an hour daily. Let's say you have done 15 minutes of meditation with a clear mind and you are on number 377 but suddenly you get a thought on breath number 378. You must start all the way back at one and finish the remainder of the 15 minutes. Never count with your head or mouth. Count with your breathe. Like listen to the way your breath comes out. You know what the breath is and what number it's on. It's basically a mind trick. Now I will teach you how to breathe. When you breathe, you have to do it very slowly at a steady pace and always through your nose. Never breathe out your mouth. Place the tip of the toing behind the top front teeth of the mouth, automatically resting the tounge at the roof of the mouth. Your back must be very straight. Your back must be very straight. Your back MUST be very straight. If it is slouched, the flow of chi will either slow down, or just completely come to a hault. Never breathe out your mouth or in your mouth. The nose takes in chi slower because of the small holes in the nostrils. This way it is easier not to rush the speed of your breathing. Breathe in slowly and breathe out in the same pace. Don't stop between breaths. Stay very calm and try to enjoy your training. I will now tell you the main points of this article: --> First Let Go of All Emotions --> Then sit in indian style. --> Straighten your back as much as much as possible. --> Inhale and exhale slowly through the nose at a steady pace. --> When inhaling, let the chi fill halfway in the lungs, then exhale. --> Try to count every breath....with your breath. You know... you can inhale and make the breath sound like one. Then exhale slowly and make it sound like 2. It's just a mind trick. It doesn't literally mean that it's gonna sound like numbers to anyone around you. =)) ~Do this for thirty minutes everyday for a whole week until you can go a full thirty minutes of meditation without thinking or counting the breaths. Be sure to read the chi kung section next beccause it explains the breathing techniques bteter. Just combine chi kung with a clear mind and it is meditation. You have to let go though before every meditation.~ Fact: People can go years without eating or drinking when meditatiing. This means you can start meditating now and stop twenty years later and not be hungry or thirsty at all. This is because our body needs energy to live. Since chi is energy, our body can feed off of that.
