I will show you some of my
"Finished" work,
This is me hard at work butchering another piece of wood,  I have a British built laith the "Record CL1" (for the technically minded) with a swivel head stock which allows me to turn larger bowls etc,  I have been turning for about two or three years now and still learning new things each day,
This is the end result of the picture above it is a "Giggle Box" made of Marbled Fiddleback Sycamore , which I think is a beautiful wood to work with : So why is it called a Giggle Box ?  Well it's for putting rings and keys etc in, and you know you put things away somewhere safe then when you go looking for IT you cant find IT , Then weeks later when you dont want IT you look in this box and go "HEHEHE Thats where IT is"
Here we have yet another bowl made of Marbled Sycamore
this is my "Sweet & Sour bowl" the inner bowl is for Sweets and the outer bowl is for Fruit
Sweet & Sour
From left to right : is Spalted Beech , Imbuya , African Paduk Fiddleback Sycamore and Honduran Rosewood,  The Spalted Beech gets it's black rippled lines through lying on the forest floor and allowing a fungus to grow on it , The Imbuya is a favourite of mine, it's an oily wood with a VERY distingtive smell,A bit like Marijuana so I am told, not that I have ever tried it.  All the timbers I use are from sustainable forests,I wouldn't dream of using any thing else.
And finally what about all the little bits of wood left over that cant be turned ? Well I decorate them, like this bit of Burr that I actually fished out of the river in France, all it needed was a few "Mushrooms" a few bits of fern and the little mouse finishes it off.
Unusual yes, But nothing goes to waste
I hope you liked what you seen so far, these are only a small sample of my work, I do sell quite a bit of it ,but some people moan about the price, I guess they don't appreciate the work involved turning out a one off piece of art
If you have seen enough then don't be affraid to
