*Amy* |
I met Amy at Camp Orchard Hill during Summer Blast 2003. Right away when I met her, I thought she looked just like Julia Roberts...doesn't she? I knew from the start that she was going to be so much fun! And she was in my small group!! Anyway, she had this amazing personality that no matter what we were doing, she was always happy. She had the most energy out of anyone at camp, that's for sure. I don't really remember her ever stopping except to sleep. She always had a smile on her face, whether she was running around with the kids, playing in the mud with her elective class, just bein' goofy (especially with Why Ask Why nights), working in the kitchen, painting buildings, and more. She was always excited about the things we were doing which helped to encourage everyone around her. Amy's from Arkansas which is pretty cool too. A lot of people came from that area down there which was awesome too. It gave a new diversity to our staff and let us meet a lot more people. It brought new ideas, new styles of doing things, and plain and simple...more fun! It was a real leap of faith for all of those people to come to Pennsylvania from all that way. And it blessed Camp Orchard Hill in more ways than we will probably ever know. Amy was a big encouragement for me during the summer. Personally, I was looking for someone that I could create a bond with. Someone that I could go to that would just be able to listen, to pray with me, and even add in a few bits of advice. And Amy was that perfect person. She was the first person to guess about Michael...and yes Amy, you were right. =) You knew before me. Anyway, I knew that if I needed anything at all, Amy was there to give it to me. Encouragement, love, prayer, support, confident, friend, a listening ear...Amy offered so much of herself for other people. I had Amy as my secret sister. Funny thing was, she had me too. I gave her John Deer stuff just to be goofy. I knew that she would laugh and who knows, maybe she uses them. If nothing else, the coffee mug worked really nice as a candy holder. =) I still have everything Amy gave me. She framed 1 Peter 3:4 for me which is one of my absolute favorite verses. The cards, the smiley face touch light, my sisters mug and the sharpies!!! (I have a sharpie obsession...haha!) The one week I had to live in a cabin with Amy during summer 2003 was amazing. It was so much fun and I will never forget any of it...especially not the armpit thing...how funny we are... The last night of camp was SO hard for me. Amy was one of the last people I said goodbye to...just because I knew that it was going to be harder than all the rest of the goodbyes. It's so hard leaving someone you become so close to...and know that you're not going to see them very much at all since they live so far away. Amy was the first person that I cried about leaving at camp. Actually, Amy was the only person that I cried about leaving at camp. I became so close to Amy and she was the one person that I miss the most from COH Summer Blast 2003. But I know that God is watching over her, keeping her safe, loving on her, and growing her to make her stronger in her faith. Amy, you are an amazing young woman in Christ. I pray that your life will be blessed, as you have blessed the rest of us. Your faith is inspiring and uplifting. I pray that God will keep you safe, strong, loved, and encouraged. I miss you so much but I know that we'll see each other again. I love you so very much Amy!!! |
~1 Peter 3:3-4~ Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. |
