| The Maglios are a wonderful family that I have come to know and love so much!! My first connection to the Maglio family was through Kelly Kate. I had her as one of my campers at Camp Orchard Hill. We had so much fun that one week of the summer. We still laugh so hard at all of our inside jokes...especially the one with the reason why I started calling her by her full name, Kelly Kate, anyway. (Tooth brush!) I was fortunate to have her the rest of my summers when I was working at camp. If she wasn't my camper, she was in my elective or she was helping out on staff. Summer 2003 I helped to convince her that not only should she come to senior high camp (as a camper again) that she should (and could) do the Leadership Program at camp. She was in my cabin during senior high week and then she was a Nehemiah for two weeks at the end of the summer. She had hard times, but everyone does, and she still loved it. She pulled through those situations and she made the best out of all of it. I know that she's interested in continuing with the Leadership Program and I'm very excited for her!! I can see her potential and the woman of Christ that she is growing into and becoming. I know that I have been a major influence on Kelly Kate's life and that means so much to me. It means so much to me that I can be there to encourage her and to help her along. I know that I have been a mentor to her, and Kelly Kate, you have been an amazing friend to me. I will never forget the trip out to her house last winter to see her. Things were a mess in my life at the time, but I needed to get away for a day, so I called up Kelly to see what she was up to one Saturday. I was so excited to meet with her, and hang out with her family, and just spend good quality time with people I love. Someone that I knew needed to talk to me, someone that I knew needed someone to listen to them, someone that would gently accept my advice, and someone that I knew would listen to what I needed to say. It was an amazing afternoon of doing absolutely nothing and it was wonderful. And it was especially fun getting to eat dinner made by my Mama Magz with Mr Magz, Kelly Kate, and Tim. Ahh...fond memories... =) I met Mr and Mrs Maglio when I first had Kelly Kate, but I really grew to know them after that first summer and then working at camp with Kelly's brother Tim. Plus Mr Maglio usually speaks at my church once a summer when my pastor goes on vacation. I missed them during the summer of 2003 since I went to Indiana to visit my family. The Maglios are amazing people that love the Lord and want nothing more than to see other people come to know Christ. They have been a huge encouragement in my life and I especially love my emails from Mama Magz. She always has something to say that will get me thinking or just a few words of encouragement and how much she misses and loves me. I miss all of the Maglios and I can't wait to see them again!! I love my Magz family SO much!!!! |
