DG Jim Hao was born on November 18, 1955 in Hongkong. He was the 4th child of Joseph and Muk Fung Yu. He has 5 brothers and 1 sister. His father is a retired nurse administrator of Queen Elizabeth Hospital and he raised his children in a well disciplined and strict manner. His mother is a very ideal homemaker who raised her children with so much love and care that all her children turned out to be very responsible, respectable, good-breed, talented, expert in their own field of profession, and good parents as well. His parents probably planned a big family, arranged the second letter in their names according to the letters of the vowels (a,e,i,o,u) but made it a point to include his J initial to all his children's names. The eldest is Jacob, a flight engineer of the famous HAECO of Hongkong; second child is Jenner, a famous Dental practitioner in Hongkong; third child is Jane, a Psychiatric Nurse; 4th child is our very own DG Jim, a very respectable Dentist in the town of San Pedro and a very workaholic businessman of his own company Trimed Health Care Corporation which he founded in 1993; 5th child is John Edward, a graduate of Pre-Med but had a different calling and became a preacher and now a Reverend Christian Minister who founded the Faith Bible School in New York USA; 6th child is Julian, a Doctor of Medicine who specialized in Neuro-surgery; and the 7th child is Jackie, a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and now the Director of an International Medical Company which covers the Asian Pacific region.
DG Jim was born and raised in Hongkong. Due to the small number of Universities in Hongkong, his parents send their children abroad for their college education. Their choice was Philippines because of its proximity to their colony. DG Jim took up Dentistry in Centro Escolar University which is one of the well-known school for Dentistry were its Dean during his time kept abreast with the current trend and made CEU one of the biggest training school in Asia. Before he took up Dentistry, he was already a well-skilled Dental Technologist and was trained formally by Kowloon Hospital were he makes meticulous quality controlled Dental Prosthesis.
Philippines is the country where he and his brothers met their Personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and became Christian. They form the Cantonese Christian Church where they reach out to all the Hongkong students in the Philippines. They gather during Sundays and convert their house as worship place. Majority of these Christian Hongkong students are in the field of Medicine and Dentistry so they use their talent by giving services at their own expense to the indigent people in the different parts of the Philippines including Baguio and Banaue Ifugao. DG Jim finds the Philippines a beautiful country with so many tourist attractions. He is a lover of nature and even invites his classmates and friends to join him in his travel and sightseeing every semestral breaks in his college years. Amazing still is the interest in his part to learn how to speak Tagalog words fluently by heart. It was in his third proper year in Dentistry where cupid struck his heart to a very pretty, smart and equally talented classmate by the name of Sylvia Sison. She was already a full pledged registered nurse by profession before she took up dentistry. It was destiny for DG Jim and spouse Sylvia to meet in the same school, took up the same course and both with previous degree holder. He loves Sylvia so much that he spend his vacation instead of going home to his parents in Hongkong, he stayed on just to be with her. One good probable reason why Sylvia has a special place in his heart and for him to be so much in love was the willingness on her part to join him and his group in their outreach ministry especially in the remotest part of Banaue Ifugao where they serve the Ifugao people. They were well appreciated and well-loved by the people there and they were even requested to be their dentist for good in Good News Hospital which was founded by an American Doctor who was connected with International Far Eastern Crusade. But life must go on and needs to improve to prepare for the future. DG Jim found more and more qualities beyond words can express on his beloved Sylvia that he became more and more in love with her that he finally asked for her hands in marriage and sought his parents consent to marry Sylvia. June 16, 1985 was the most memorable day for the couple Jimmy and Sylvia for they were bind together as husband and wife. After two years of marriage, they were bless with a beautiful daughter by the name of Jamie Shiela who is now 13 years old and a first year high school student of St. Benedict College. Then another four years past and they were bless again with another pretty daughter by the name of Jimsybilla who is now 8 years old and a third grade student of St. Benedict College.
It was in 1986 when DG Jim was invited by Charter President / Past District Governor Emong Castasus to join Rotary. PDG Emong surely never regret recruiting DG Jim. He saw in him a Rotarian in words and in deeds with a heart to serve in a wholehearted manner. PDG Emong in 1994 became the District Governor of District 3820. Despite DG Jim's position as Vice-President of Rotary Club of San Pedro, PDG Emong never had a second thought in his choice for DG Jim to be his District Secretary during his term as District Governor. And because of his overwhelming appreciation in his role as District Secretary, PDG Emong gave him the highest award in the District which is the "DIAMOND AWARD". In 1996, DG Jim was elected President of Rotary Club of San Pedro with the theme "BUILD THE FUTURE WITH ACTION AND VISION'. His District Governor during that time was PDG Calo Calora. His significant accomplishment during his term as President are the Construction of San Pedro Public Library, playground and Club House, the construction of Bagong Silang Day Care Center, and the acquisition of an Ambulance for the town of San Pedro. He garnered several awards from the district during his Presidency which includes Most Outstanding President, Club Leadership award, Outstanding Chairman award, Award of Excellence, Significant Achievement award, District Governor Outstanding Special Project award, District Governor Area Meritorious Performance Award, Presidential Citation to Build the Future award, and District Governor Outstanding Club Bulletin Award. He was the Matching Grant District 3820 Chairman and at the same time the Chairman of Rotary Foundation Inc. of Rotary Club of San Pedro from RY 1997 to RY 2001. In his capacity he was able to acquire 300 wheelchair for the district , a 30,000 gallon water tank for the people of San Pedro and assist PDG Emong Castasus 3H grant's approval "Rotagrilife" for the benefit of the people in the 4th district of Laguna.
In the year 1999-2000 during the term of PDG Paeng Tantuco with the theme "Act with Consistency, Credibility, Continuity", DG Jim was elected by the Nominating Comittee as District Governor Nominee./Today, June 9, 2001 is indeed a memorable day for DG Jim and Spouse Sylvia for this is the day that the Lord has made that Incumbent District Chito Recto will turn-over his position to DG Jim the highest position in the District. |
