William Bradford was born about 1695 in Yorkshire, England. He married Elizabeth Chambers on April 12, 1719 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. She was born about 1700. Another William Bradford, that sailed on the Mayflower was also from Leeds, Yorkshire, England, but we have not found a connection, as yet, to him, but could have a connection with our family. Phebe Bradford Born: 22 Jan 1756 in Quarry Hill, Yorkshire, England John Bradford (born April 8, 1745) has been reported to have a very limited education, and while in his teens, he was put to work in the silk mills, his father being a member of the firm. In 1776, at the age of 21, John left the silk mills and went to sea. He became captain of a vessel and must have sailed to America, where he saw a new freedom and a large amount of unclaimed land. It is believed that he came to America to live in about 1733. John enlisted in the Virginia Militia and was involved in the Dunmore War, under the command of James Wood Jr. During the Revolutionary War, he was a member of the Virginia 8th Regiment. He migrated to Hampshire Co., Virginia, where he met and married Johanna Regina (Hannah) Shrout (see Feuerbach Family Tree) in 1778. She was born May 17, 1762, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Johann "Peter" & Anna Clara Feuerbach Shrout. They lived on a farm 11 miles north of the village of Petersburg. Their children were: 1. Peter later returned to Virginia in early 1812, bringing a bride, Nancy Ann Davis, along with the families of Joseph Bradford and John Bradford, Jr., along with the Wood and Davis families, back to Ohio, in 1813. The families of Peter Bradford, John Bradford Jr. and the Davis families decided to travel to Muskingum County and settle. Also traveling to Muskingum County were the younger brothers, William and Gasper. In about 1815, John Bradford retired from farming and moved in John Jr. and family, bringing his wife, and younger children to his farm to live, leaving his farm to Joseph Bradford. John Jr. had settled just west of Bloomfield, Ohio, in Highland Township. In 1830, at the age of 85, John Bradford died in Highland Township, Ohio, and was buried in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery. Hannah died in 1841 in Highland Twp, Muskingum, Ohio, and was also buried there. Joseph Bradford (Born Mar. 31, 1779) married Elizabeth Dixon in 1800. Nancy Bradford was born Mar. 27, 1781 in Patterson Creek, Hampshire, W.Virginia. She married James Tucker in 1799 in Hardy, Virginia, and died Feb. 29, 1872 in Jasper Twp, Carroll, Iowa. She was buried Mar. 1, 1872 in Pleasant Hill Cem, Greene, Iowa George W. Bradford was born Aug. 21, 1783 in Hampshire, West Virginia. He married Mary Stingley on June 13, 1805 in Hardy, Virginia and later married Elizabeth Schell on June 18, 1813. He died Dec. 14, 1855 in Washington Twp., Grant Co., Indiana and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, in Grant Co., Indiana Peter Bradford was born Jan. 27, 1786 in Hardy, West Virginia. He married Nancy Ann Davis April 26, 1812 in Hardy, West Virginia and died June 5, 1842 in Highland Twp., Muskingum, Ohio. He was buried in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Muskingum, Ohio. Hannah Bradford was born Jan. 1, 1797, m. Peter Wood. Died Feb. 27, 1848, Jefferson Twp., Cochocton, Ohio. Buried in Darling Run Cemetery near Warsaw, Ohio. John Bradford, Jr. was born Nov. 2, 1788 in Hardy, W.Virginia and married Sarah (Sallie) Davis (see Davis Family Tree) Dec. 19, 1809 in Hardy, West Virginia. Sallie was born Feb. 22, 1790 in Hardy, West Virginia and died April 23, 1855 and buried in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Muskingum, Ohio.. John later married Casandra Wright on Jan. 29, 1857. James B Bradford, son of John Bradford and Johanna Regina (Hannah) Shrout, was born Jan. 25, 1801, in Hardy, West Virginia. He married Crestine (Crissey) Leeper on Sept. 8, 1825 in Guernsey, Ohio. He later married Margaret Scott on March 9, 1848. He died Aug. 5, 1875 in Lawndale Twp., McLean, Illinois and was buried in Fairlawn Cemetery, McLean, Illinois.
