Ah, the Violator. Sure the Joker, Dr. Doom, and the like are all cool villains, but the Violator is just incredible in terms of a physical presence. Unless you're talking about Doomsday or Galactus, there are very few villains who are just that massive, mean, and powerful. Over 10' of butt-kicking demon is quite a sight. McFarlane toys has created a huge universe of Spawn figures, with my personal favorite being the Manga Spawn line. Case in point the incredible Manga Samurai Spawn. Ok, ok, so it didn't look like a traditional samurai. Hey, it's manga, means mean, nasty honking robots, so cut it some slack. Anyway, with a hero like that, what sort of villain do you create? Well, Violator is a good start, so let's make him badder... oh boy... The meat and potatoes of this pieces are over the top. The articulation is incredible. There are 22 points of articulation on this sucker, from the jaws to wrist to ankles... oh heck, just about everything moves. The amazing thing is there are extras that you wouldn't think could move that do. There are four giant blades around Cyber-Violator's head that rotate for all sorts of slicing and dicing positions. The paint scheme isn't very colorful but it's well done. The entire figure is silver with lots and lots of black panel lines painted in to give the piece that wonderful cyborg look. And another plus, this thing is biiiiiiiiiiiiig. At it's full height, Cyber-Violator is almost 12" tall. Perks? Well, there is that slight problem. He doesn't come with anything. It would have been nice to have... SOMETHING thrown in. Then again, you're getting almost 12" super-articulated, well-painted figure, so you shouldn't complain. Homer factor? This piece kicks serious butt. He's Spawn nemesis, and he's reproduced in all of his bio-mechanical glory! In the end, this is a fine piece of work from McFarlane toys. Sure, there would have been some accessories thrown in, but just the same this is a great piece to slide beside your other Spawn figures. |
