Description; The Sorcerer Supreme come to life! Figure is approximately 5" tall and in the classic costume wth the Cloak of Levitation and Eye of Agammatto. One of the best things about ToyBiz lines are the OTHER figures you got, not just the usual pieces. Yes, yes, you got a bagillion versions of Spider-Man or Wolverine, whatever. BUT... you also got some OTHER, lesser known figures thrown in. Ok, they may be rare, but at least they were made and released. The Iron Man line introduced the Titanium Man, and Crimson Dynamo, the short-lived Silver Surfer line brought Nova back to live. From Spider-Man, they brought us Dr. Strange. Ok, I'm sorta cheating here, since I've already done a New Yankee Toy Shop on this thing. However, the original figure merits it's own write-up. Meat and potatoes over all are very, very good. Surprise, surprise, lots o' articulation on this one. The shoulders have ball-joints, giving a great range of motion, even the ANKLES move. The sculpt is also very detailed. The fingers are pre-sculpted in those cool finger-gestures he always used, and the facial features are dead-on, even the cool mustache he had. The detailed sculpt holds true to the Cloak of Levitation and Eye of Agamotto. The paint... well, the paint on mine is HORRIBLE. There are stray splashes here and there of blue, white, and orange. Considering how sloppy this is, I would say this is a problem with just this one, not the figures as a whole. Perks are cool and appropriate. The Cloak and Eye are removable, so you can pose Doc without the trademark Cloak. Unfortunately the Cloak and Eye are sculpted together as one giant piece, but considering the scale of the figure, that makes sense. The Cloak also has a neat extra; the base of the cloak contains a piece of wire, allowing you to mold the Cloak into specific positions, such as surrounding his feet or whipping in the wind. The good Doctor also comes with a little demon in an orb. Homer Factor? Very high for me. Dr. Strange is a wonderful character; neat spells, VERY bizarre villains and locales, and a rather cool, albeit garish, costume. Woohoo. In a nutshell, the Sorcerer Supreme is a rocking piece to own. And if you have the Dread Dormammu figure, you too can recreate some wonderful fights... er, I mean, you can POSE THEM ON YOUR SHELF. ... yeah, right. Hehehehehehehehehe. |
