Spy Streak- Beast Machines, Battle for the Spark
Meat and Potatoes; 5.0
Perks; 5.0
Homer Factor; 4.5
Description; Ah, if only Rick Hunter had THIS to fight with...

Spy Streak is a futuristic SR-71 that transforms into a robot.

In vehicle mode, the figure is equipted with a twin missile-launcher on the belly.  In bot mode, the planes nose becomes Spy Streak's left arm, opening up to turn into a giant pincer, the missile launcher becomes Spy Streaks right arm.  The planes stub wings  and engines fold down to become Spy Streak's legs.
Just when it's looking good....   After being bombed with bugs, bears, and other beasties, Hasbro FINALLY goes back to the traditional vehicles we all love for the new 'Beast Machines' assortment.  Like the other 'Beast Wars/Machines' pieces, the new toys features awesome articulation, and rocking sculpts.  Naturally, just when we're getting juiced for more, HASBRO IS INTRODUCING THE 'ROBOTS IN DISGUISE' LINE!!!!!!!!!  AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!  Granted, this is very cool for people state-side who don't feel like blowing over $70 for Super Fire Convoy.  Still, we FINALLY get cool new product, and it's STOPPING??!?!?!?!?  Oh well, in the waning moments of this line, time to appreciate another new piece before they stop; Spy Streak.

Meat and potatoes, as usual, rock on this one.  The sculpting captures all the high-tech details you expect on a Beast Machine; panel lines, little vents, missile ports along the nose, the works.  The articulation on this piece is bot mode is also amazing.  Arms, elbows, knees, and hips swivel surprisingly well for a piece that's about the size of Boba Fett.  And, it STANDS WELL.

Perks are also awesome.  The vehicle mode is a terrific twist on the classic SR-71 Black Bird.  Problem; um... why is this GREEN?  Whatever.  The transformation from jet to bot is also very cool; not too hard to do, but creates an awesome change in appearance.  The weapons Spy Streak comes with though... The nose of the fighter becomes Spy Streak's left arm,  and the missile launcher on his belly becomes the right arm.  The left-arm opens up like the reflex cannon on the SDF-1 from 'Robotech', which is kind of cool in some ways, but seems rather out-of-place on a figure this tiny.  Good news is the added weight doesn't keep the piece from standing well.  Bad news, well, he's kinda over-burdened.

Homer Factor?  I'm a sucker for fighters, so I was looking forward to this piece.  However... uh, guys... um, what about MEGATRON!!????!?!?!?!?!?!
Same problem with Cheetor; yes this piece is cool, but can we have some of the STARS being redone, not just back-ground guys?

All in all, it's a good piece of work; nice transformation of a cool vehicle.  BUT....
