Superman and Lois Lane-DC Direct Meat and Potatoes; 5.0 Perks; 5.0 Homer Factor; 5.0 |
|||||||||||
Description; The Man of Steel and Lois Lane are brought to life. Superman is approximately 5" tall, with Lois being approximately 4 1/2". Both appear to be based upon the 60's version of the character, with Kal with the classic spit-curl and Wayne Boring-esque barrel chest, and Lois in a classic business suit with skirt and funky hat. |

Both figures high-light detailed sculpting and very good articulation. Each piece come with replacment hands, in Lois' case the spare hands carry a pad (With ''Is Clark Kent Superman?" written on it) and pencil. Superman comes with a short standing cape and longer 'flying cape' as well as a hook and line to let you hand Supes in a flying pose. The set also comes with a gold-colored stand, American flag, and piece of Kryptonite. |

FINALLY. After a bunch of very 'eh' versions of Kal-El, DC Direct attempted to re-create THE first, and arguably most famous, superhero ever. But they didn't stop there, DC Direct also decided to include Supes' main significant other (Oh, let's have fun and be PC here) and future wife Lois Lane. Considering who's making this, expectations are pretty dang high for this. No room for error in recreating THE flag-ship character for your company. So, how did it go? Folks, this figure does NOT suck. Meat and potatoes of this piece are the usual for DC Direct, excellent. No, we're not talking McFarlane musculature or anything. You have a classic '60s Superman figure and corresponding Lois figure. Both are VERY good reproductions of the characters at the time. Supes has the classic barrel chest, spit-curl, and a face-sculpt Curt Swan would be proud of. Lois is also very well done, with very detailed sculpting for her; you can see the spirals on her spiral note-book and the latches on her hand-bag. Articualtion on both figures is great. Supes' shoulders have ball-joints, giving maximum range of motion, and there are also elbow, knee, and even ankle joints. Oh, and on top of all that, the head can also swivel up so that Superman can look foward while he's flying. The only unnerving thing about Lois' figure is the face. Lois has a very disturbing grin on her face, like a Stepford Wife or something. I think Kal may want to reconsider hooking-up with her. Eek. Oh, and a nice bonus; Superman is just about in scale with the DC Direct Wonder Woman and Dark Knight Batman from 'Legends of the Batman' by Hasbro. Now you can recreate all those classic confrontation from JLA; 'You boy scout.' 'You psycho.' 'You aritocratic wench.' And you thought the X-Men could get catty. The perks are surprisingly good. Supes comes with two capes; one standard standing around cape, the other is a longer cap that can be used when putting him in flying positions. In addition, there is a little piece of line and a hook that lets you hang the figure up in a flying positions. Looks very cool, actually. Both Lois and Clark also come with replaement hands, a stand, and requisit American flag for Superman to hold on to. Oh, you also get a piece of Kryptonite. Hehehehehehhehehehehehe. Homer Factor? Way high troops. I've been waiting for a good Superman figure for quite a while now. Hasbro came out with an ok Superman line, 'The Man of Steel' that was a good START, but unforutnatley didn't last beyond one series. Finally, there is a very good Superman figure to place on your shelf with the tons o' Batman pieces that have crowded the market. In the end, this is a terrific peice of work. The version they did pick is one of THE classic images of Superman, and the figure you get is pretty sweet. Hmmmmmmmmm... think a version of the Supermobile is up next? ... ok, forget I asked. |
