Post 'LOTR' Movies To Wait For! The 'LOTR Extended Edition' marathon was an amazing event; all three, shown consecutively, surrounded by rabid fans who get all the jokes, understand the power of the Epic, and sob when Sam carried Frodo up Mt. Doom. It also doesn't hurt that the price at the concession was waaay cheap. Ah... but here's a problem... NO MORE 'LOTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!' NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Is it the end of the movie world? Not quite. Let the new wave of movies begin! 1. 'Troy.' Before 'LOTR', before 'Star Wars', before 'The Godfather', hell before the Bible, there was 'The Illiad', the epic fall of Troy, by Homer. Ironically enough, the siege of Troy isn't often used in movies. Hercules, Jason, all of those guys get used to no end, but one of the first Great Battles doesn't get enough press... until now. Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Eric Bana, and all at the direction of Wolfgang Peterson, amount to high expectations on this flick. The trailer showing the legendary thousand ships is amazing, and if you could just get past Boob-Gate, there was ANOTHER amazing trailer during the Super Bowl. Ah, let the battle begin! 2. 'Alexander'. Another historical epic. Conspiracy fan Oliver Stone and hot-shot Colin Farrel join together to give life to one of the greatest leaders of history, bar none. And it doesn't hurt to have Angelina Jolie as your Mom... although that's more Oedipus then Alexander, isn't it? Oh, who cares, it sounds cool! 3. 'The Incredibles.' Normally I hate movies that hype themselves almost a year before they're released. Remember 'Godzilla'? Ok, it wasn't THAT bad, but is sure wasn't worth waiting a year for. However, Pixar has been hitting more home runs than Barry Bonds with their animated features that are family AND adult friendly. The idea of Superheroes in Yuppy-ville is pretty funny. Having Pixar handle it DEFINITELY makes it funny. 4. 'Kill Bill Vol. 2'. Uma Thurman Vs. David Carradine with samurai swords and fight choreography by Wo Ping and Sonny Chiba! Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!! |
