Ooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh.... nothings screams 'testosterone' like cool spaceships in movies. Unfortunately, there are tons... and tons... and tons of ships that are eye-popping.(The Sulaco from 'Aliens,' comes to mine.) This is one of those lists I KNOW there's someone going 'well, what about the....' Hey, these are just cool ones that come to mind. And they epitomize what EVERY starship should do in sci-fi; grace, power, and the ability to kick some SERIOUS ass. Start your engines, folks.
1. X-Wing fighter, 'Star Wars, Episode 4,' et al; Let's start with the one that pops into mind the most quickly. Ok, the Falcon is very cool, but X-wings are equal parts F-15 fighter, Dodge Viper, and attitude.
2. Enterprise-E, Sovereign class ship, 'Star Trek; First Contact,' et al; Ok, I'm committing sacrilege here. Too bad, my page. Nyah. Yes, the original Constitution class Enterprise is one of THE ships we've all been raised on, and it is quite a sight... but it looks so CLUNKY. It's like looking at, oh, the Wright Flyer. Yes, it was ground-breaking, but you REALLY want to see the F-16 two rows over. This is where the Enterprise-E comes in. This ship screams AWESOME; nice curves, but doesn't look like a stuffed turkey, and loads o' fire-power. Woohoo.
3. The Yamato/Argo, 'Star Blazer,' et al; Hey, the wave-motion gun alone puts this ship on the list.
4. SDF-1, 'Robotech-Macross;' Not ONLY do you have the Reflex Gun, but this thing TRANSFORMS. Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
