Transformers from 'The War Within'
Funny how 'The Transformers' has changed over the last few years.  In it's original incarnation in the '80s, this was pure kiddy fair; choppy animation, and choppier comics.  The good news is the toys ROCKED.  Die cast metal, missiles that REALLY fired, realistic molding of the pieces, oh it was a good time to be a toy fan!  Like all things, fads waned and disappeared... until all of us Gen-Xers graduated college, got paying jobs, and started to pine for that REALLY cool old stuff.  Hasbro has obliged with 'Armada', 'Energon', and a TON o' other stuff.

But what about the 'toons and comics?  Ok the 'toons... hey, old habits die hard.  It's still pretty kiddy stuff.  Doh!  But the COMICS... oh yes.  Ok, so Grimlock still has that 'Me Grimlock' way of speaking.  However, he's FINALLY gotten away from being the STUPID comic relief and is a hulking, brooding, no-nonsense bad-ass, and it goes on and on with the change the characters have gone through.  Case in point is the amazing Dreamwave mini-series 'The War Within'.  It charts the start of the Autobot/Decepticon war with Prime, Jazz, Megatron, and the other G-1 classic characters  AND.... you get to see what they looked like on CYBERTRON!!!!!!!!!!!!  So... what if... someone at Hasbro went 'Hey... LET'S MAKE THESE GUYS INTO TOYS?'  Ohhhhh... the possibilities...

1. Optimus Prime.  The joys of this mini-series is seeing Prime BEFORE he became Prime.  This should also be a tow-pack with the Pre-Matrix Prime and the biiiiiiiiiig, baaaaaaaaaaaaaad, rifle-carrying Prime.

2. Megatron.  In 'The War Within', we see why everyone was TERRIFIED of the Slag Maker.  He's not this wimpy Walther pistol... he's a tank... big tank.   With three MASSIVE cannons... oh boy.

3. Grimlock.  So what form do you give this Cretaceous version of Rambo?  A tank the size of a 747 with a LOT of biiiiiiiiiig guns.  Oooooohhhhhhhhhhhh.

4.  Starscream.  Sure he's annoying, but he's so good at it.  Besides, his fighter-mode is a sight to behold.
