The Super Deluxe Star War Figure
Ok, technically, that's what the 12" 'figures' are.  I'm sorry, but I'm VERY biased.  Once you start talking about literally changing the figures clothes, you're getting into the doll category.  I know, I'm dissing a multitude of stuff from MediCom, who has an AMAZING reputation for 12" pieces, it's just me.  I think the size is too big, and
frankly details can be very twitchy.  Case in point, the mega-sized 11" Gundam.  Alright, so what would I do if I wanted to make THE 'Star Wars' figure?

First, 7" scale, size Todd Toys started; just big enough for you to add lots of details and articulation, but not so big the thing could date Barbie.  Who's the figure?  Personally, Luke Skywalker.  I was always a Luke fan, not Han.  I know, sacrelige.   NOT the version for Ep IV, although that would maximize accessories; lightsaber, electronic binoculars, blasters galore, the works.  Just the same,  I still here the whine about power-converters ringing through my ears.  I like the cool, jet-black look from ROTJ; jet black tunic, the black robe, since and simple, classic.

Ok, big thing; articulation, articulation, articulation.  Time to take a page from the Kaiyodo school of joints and stack them up.  As we've seen in the Ep I and II, the Jedi were NOT to be messed with, even without lightsabers.  See what Obi-Wan did to Jango in the rain?  Now THAT is a jumping side-kick.  So add LOTS of articulation in order to duplicate lots of neat fighting poses.  Besides, Luke can hold his lightsaber the right way; both hands, like a katana.

Accessories?  Unfortunately, Luke didn't rely on much in ROTJ; his 'saber and cloak were literally it.  So, let's be minimalist; a nice soft-plastic cloak with the hood up, and set-up so that it can just slip on and off.  Now the lightsaber, let's have the blade detachable, plus add a little peg on the end so we can dangle the 'saber handle on Luke's hip.  Perfect.  Still too little in extras?  Ok, let's give him a stand, something from Dagobah since that's where he grew-up the most, perhaps a card-board back-drop of Yoda's hut.

Now THAT is a deluxe Luke Skywalker figure.  Hmmmmmmmm... hey George, you SURE you don't want to do three more movies...?
