At first, Sakura and Syaoran seemed like rivals because Syaoran saw only the cards and not Sakura. Sakura, however, was kind anyway. As the episodes progressed, you see that Syaoran begins to blush when Sakura is around. This was a sign that Syaoran had noticed her kind and gentle side. Near the end, he finally had enough courage to tell Sakura his feelings. Sakura, however, did not respond. So that is why the second movie is so kawaii, because it shows us the struggle Sakura went through to tell Syaoran she loved him.
