A Bathroom in a Rain Forest |
![]() |
It is a pity that I cannot have my bath in a rainforest pool. We have some lovely forests just outside my hometown, and when I was younger, a friend and I used to venture into the forests and soak in the beauty of nature. Sometimes, when we could be quite sure we were unlikely to be discovered, we would strip off and splash in the pools below waterfalls. Anyway, this is the nearest my dolls could get to my reality. The forest clearing floor is a sheet of cork and the trees lining the clearing is an enlarged photocopy of a picture I found somewhere. As I felt three walls would be a little overpowering, I painted the third wall the same stone color I painted the lounge wall. The fittings are Sindy 1970's range of bathroom furniture, except for the swivel chair (unknown brand) and the cabinet at the back that I made myself. The shower actually works and sprays water over the doll in the stall. The towels I made myself from an old face cloth. I also made the perfume bottles on the washbasin shelf. On the top shelf of the cabinet, you can just see some boxes -they are various shape and size plasters and there is also a box of laxative. The next shelf down has a box of loo cleaner on it as well as some baby powder and Dettol and 2 tubes of toothpaste. On the next shelf down is a Mattel tissue box and the fancy bottles are from the same company. The cupboard houses the excess towels and loo rolls, etc. Yes, there is a loo roll and a hanging loo roll holder with three excess rolls on hand just in case. The toilet cleaning brush is an eye make-up applicator the same color as the fittings. The plants at the end of the bath are made from plastic terrarium plants. Can you see the lizard on the top of the shower stall? The dolls even have a scale to weigh themselves on. And to brighten up the whole room, a bright smiling sun adorns the wall next to the wash basin. Ihave added quite a few extra things to this diorama since this photograph was taken and I will be taking some more pics this weekend (hopefully) and will post them as they have been developed and scanned. As you can see the outer frame of the room box is yet to be attended to. I am going to put a trellis up the side and over the top of the front of the room and "plant" a vine up it. This will probably only happen when I have set up the room boxes into some semblance of a house. The yellow swivel chair in the front of the picture is part of a set that comprises the chair and a freestanding hairdryer that actually works. If you have some ideas you would like to share with me about this room, please feel free to email me, I would appreciate new ideas. For those interested - the dimensions of this room are 40cm from floor to ceiling, 55 from front to back and 50cm from side to side. |
