Rituals | |||||||||||
Summary: Rituals are performed by Wiccans usually at each Full and New moon and at the large holidays. They are used to honor the Lord and Lady, give thanks and ask for what is needed. Spell work may also be performed at this time. Some Wiccans do not do New Moon rituals, because they have difficulty understanding the Crone aspect of the Goddess, but that is a personal choice. Rituals usually consist of seven steps. 1. Setting up ritual space. 2. Bathing and robing for the rites. 3. Casting the circle. 4. Body of the ritual. 5. Any spellwork or divination that needs to be done. 6. Closing the circle. 7. Clean up. Remember to make sure you are comfortable and that your ritual space is free of distractions. It is best to spend a few minutes before and after the ritual meditating on your intent. This will help you focus and put you in that 'magical' state of mind. First, you need to clean off your altar and set up your ritual items. You may want to spreac a cloth over the table/altar to keep wax from dripping on it. Next, take a nice hot bath or shower and cleanse yourself. I like to use herbal soaps and bath salts. Put on your robes and any magical jewelry you wish to wear. After you finish you ritual and any spell casting, be sure to close the circle. Finally, you will clean up you supplies and clean them so that they dont rust or get stained. |

The following rituals are published in Wicca: The Complete Craft by D.J. Conway. You may want to alter it to fit your personal needs. The parts in italic are spoken Casting Circle Light your altar candles and ring your bell once. The ritual has begun. Starting at the east, use your athame/sword to draw a circle around your ritual space, imagining a white light surrounding you. I consecrate this circle to the Goddess and the God, here may they manifest and bless their child. In front of altar, raise arms with athame in your power(dominant) hand. This is a time that is not a time, in a place that is not a place, on a day that is not a day. I stand at the threshold between the worlds, before the viel of mysteries. May the Old Ones protect me that I may walk the true path forever.... Guard me in this time and place from all evil and unbalanced forces. Lay dagger aside and raise arms. Come, all thos who would help me here this night. I give you welcome within this sacred circle. Join your powers with my desires that I may create and accomplish. Point the dagger down at the chalice/cup of wine/water. The blessings of the Goddess be upon this water/wine, symbol of water. May it ever remind me of the endless cauldron waters of rebirth. Hold daggar over salt. The blessings of the Goddess be upon this salt, symbol of Earth. May I ever honor the blessed earth that is her body in the physical world. Using the tip of your athame, drop some salt into the cup and swirl it three times clockwise. Sprinkle it around the circle(cw). Warth and Earth, elements of birth. By touch puify, by power sanctify, Great Goddess be you adored. Hold athame over charcol/lighter. The blessings of the God be upon this charcol/lighter, symbol of fire. May I ever honor the sacred fire that dances within me. Hold dagger over incense (in either stick, cone, or powder form). The blessings of the God be upon this incense, symbol of air. May I always listn to the spiritual inspriation that wisphers to my soul. Light incense/sprinkle it on charcol and walk around circle with it (cw). Fire and Air, elements so fair. By touch purify, by power sancitfy. Great God be you adored. Face altar. Round and round the power is bound, this circle tonight in Otherworld light. No evil may enter, no harm befall me. For that is my will and so shall it be. Now you must walk around and call each corner. Start at the east moving clockwise. Raise dagger at each point (you may also draw a pentacle in the air if you choose, starting at the top to invoke. Some like to put candles at the points in their corresponding color. If you choose to do it, light it when you call it. Lords and Ladies of the (East, South, West, North) all those ruled by the element of (air, fire, water, earth). I do summon you to witness this ritual and guard this circle. Closing Circle Start at the east again moving clockwise, snuffing candle/banishing pentacle(start at bottom) or just raising your athame. Lords and Ladies of the (east, south, west, north), all those ruled by the element of (air, fire, water, earth). I bid you peacefully depart, my thanks and farewell. Hold a rock or place your hands on the altar to 'ground' an excess energy. Raise arms. Faries, spirits, elementals and all the invisible, I give my thanks and my blessings. May we always work in harmony together. Blessed Be. Cut the circle with your dagger (just swipe it across the boundary you have made magically). The circle is cut, but the blessings long remain. Merry meet and Merry part and merry meet again. Blessed Be. ------------0xKhTmLbOuNdArY Content-Disposition: form-data; name="userfile"; filename="" |
