On Sunday, June 16, 1946, the venerable old man which François-Xavier Fafard had become, took to his bed permanently. In the following days, he dwindled down gradually, like a candle about to go out. On Tuesday, June 25, in the presence of his fellow priests, "Saapeeay" peacefully embarked on his eternal voyage. He was eighty-nine years, eight months and six days old.
