Caroline's "Night on the Lake", ca. 1940
In 1950, armed with her new Kodak Pony 135 camera and an ample supply of Kodachrome 25 color slide film, my mother, Caroline Francis, brought our family photographs into the color era.  I am amazed at how vivid the color has remained over the ensuing 50+ years.  She also took many photographs of LaFollette relatives, friends, her children's schoolmates, school programs, etc.  I have scanned most of the slides and chosen many of them to display.  I hope that the photographs will provide a snapshot of what it was like to grow up in a small town in Tennessee in the 1950s.  I lived in a town where my parents were raised and where I had two widowed grandmothers, a widowed great grandmother, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Although LaFollette has not been my home for more than 40 years, it will always be my home town.  I have arranged the photographs into various themes which may be accessed by the links below.  If anyone would like a higher quality image of any of the photographs, I would be happy to share them as e-mail attachments.  Write me with the details.
