Kusaka family For the Kusaka and the Nishino family, the name Kagome is an other word for sacrifice. An ancestor of the Kusaka family was the wizard of the legend. The Kusaka family was once a family of shamans but every generation less shamans were born, now only one shaman in a few years is born. The last one is Kagome. Nishino family For the Kusaka and the Nishino family, the name Kagome is an other word for sacrifice. The Nishino family long ago was once Nishiya, one of the families of the legend. The Legend A long, long time ago, there was a village on the bottom of the world. An Oni appeared and the village turned into hell. The head of the Takeuchi family, at that time, called a wizard to destroy the Oni. The wizard was an ancestor of the Kusaka family. Since there was no way to kill him they had to seal him away. For that they needed a special sacrifice, they picked two people for the villagers, a man and a woman. They had to have a baby girl, and in that girl they sealed the Oni’s soul while his body was put six feet under. The girl was born and the Oni was put away, the girl was adopted by the Takeuchi family. In that way the Takeuchi family would protect the seal by having a girl each generation. But since the Oni was suppose to be sealed in a girl, when a boy is born the Oni tries to return and posses his body, the women of the Takeuchi that generate a boy have to seal the oni with they’re own body. To protect the seal the women of the Kusaka and Nishino have to marry the boy. The father of the girl was from the Azumaya family, which is now the Kajimara family.
