| Monkey D. Rufy He’s 16 and totally wacko. He acts like he never has a care in the world (except for when it comes to his friends and his hat). He’s the captain of the (initially regretful) Going Merry crew. When he was 6 years old he ate the Gom Gom Fruit which turned his body in a 100% rubber like structure, making it possible for him to stretch any part of his body easily and allowing incredible body stunts. He basically eats meat and laughs all day long. His treasure is a straw hat given to him when he was a child by Shanks The Red, his hero, which he is now trying to find. His only goal in life is that of finding the One Piece (greatest treasure in the world) and becoming King of Pirates (ambitious, ain’t he?). Will he succeed? Rolonah Zoro He’s a 17 year old swordsman (he’s the only normal member of the crew…maybe…actually no…not…just no…). He fights with three swords, one of which is very important because it had once belonged to Kuina, a girl from his childhood that he had never been able to beat in a match, to whom he had promised to become the greatest swordsman in the world the day right before she died. The sword reminds him of his promise and gives him his determination. Basically all he does in the Going Merry is drink and sleep and a few random times he’s seen practicing, but those really are VERY random times. Oh, yeah, he also has green hair. Nami Well, she’s a thief. She likes clothes, money, and stealing. She also loves navigation and mapping, which is why she becomes navigator of the Going Merry. She and her sister (not by blood) Nojiko were raised by Bellmer, and ex-Marine that took them in as children (Nami just a baby) when they were both orphaned after the destruction of a village. She became a thief because when working for Arlong (a fishman that killed Bellmer) she had made a deal with him that for a certain amount of money he’d free her village. He didn’t stick to the deal so Rufy beat the crap outta him and Nami decided to sail with him. Usop For one thing, he’s the son of a pirate in Shank’s crew. To keep like exciting in his little island he woke up everyone every morning yelling about pirates and made up tall tales for his “crew” and Kaya tle local rich, sick girl. With the help of Rufy and his friends they manage to truly rid the town of pirates and he sails with them. The Going Merry was a gift from Kaya to thank them for having saved her. Usop has great aim and uses a slingshot as his weapon. He’s also got the biggest nose in the entire storyline. Sanji He’s a cook with really long legs. When he fights he keeps his hands in his pockets (how? How the hell do we know?) and uses only kicks because he says that cooks hands are too important. When he was a child he was saved by the pirate Red Foot Zeff (whom he hated. By the way, Zef and Sanji both spent a lot of time on an isolated island, and the pirate ate his own leg to give the kid all his food. Ain’t it sweet? No, actually it’s sick!) and spent the reast of his life (up until he joins the Going Merry) working in his sea restaurant, the Baratie. He’s got a real weak spot for the ladies. |
