SS 7 - Estuary FC 1 20th Sept 2005 |
This week saw us play Estuary FC for the 4th time, having never beaten them before in the times we previously played them. The match started badly with me being caught in a ‘2 on 1’ situation, which resulted in them scoring the opening goal in their first attack. We quickly hit back with Steve scoring a decent strike after stepping in for Tom and James at the last minute. From that point we continued to play as a team and after 2 goals from Paul were 3 – 1 at half time. The 2nd half started in the same vain of form as we ended the first with domination from the SS, which culminated in 3 goals for Paul and a good free kick from Andy. We didn’t have complete domination of the 2nd half as occasionally they would spark into life and Dave would be called into action. Overall a complete performance against a team that was playing in the prem 2 seasons ago. Next week we have RBS Utd in a crunch game. |

SS 2 - ENSC 1 4th July 2006 |
This week we played ENSC, a team that have won all 6 of there games this season.
We started well and in the first 6 minutes and it resulted in both teams shooting from distance. We marked our men well and defended like we can when we all play at our best. The damage in this game was done in the middle 6 minute sin the first half, which we scored two critical goals after good link up play through out. The goals came from Paul and Tom. The rest of the half everyone played well and restricted ENSC to shots from there own half. The 2nd half started jittery, with us conceding a sloppy goal and then soaking up lots of pressure. During this period they hit the bar twice and looked strong. After this we played strongly and stopped them from getting near our goal, making them shoot from their own half. Overall we played superbly and was one of our best performances. If this is our last match at Pitch Invasion, what a way to go out……………… |

SS 0 - EHA1 FC 1 8th Jan 2007 |
This week we played EHA1 FC, previously Estuary or ENSC at Pitch Invasion.
This was the first game back after the xmas period and it started well, with an early solid performance. The match was a tight affair and was fairly even, with both teams creating chances. The difference between the two teams was that their chances were clear cut and ours were wild shots with little chance of going in. At half time we managed to get it to 0 – 0. In the 2nd half it was another solid performance, but we conceded a well worked goal early on, after a strike form an acute angle. We worked hard for the rest of this half not creating any clear cut chances, but also becoming more stretched at the back. If they had scored another goal it would not have been undeserved. Overall a decent display, but again no points or goals. If we are going to score goals in this league, we need to pass the ball more when we get to goal, instead of trying to lash in a wonder strike from an impossible position. |

SS 2 - EHA1 FC 2 6th Feb 2007 |
This match was a crucial as it would decide how the last 2 matches had to be played. I.e. if we lost we would be relegated, a draw would make it close to impossible, a win would drop EHA1 FC in the proverbial ****. Due to this being wrote 3 weeks after the event, I am unsure what halves things occurred.
This match showed that our strong run of form continued, we looked solid throughout the team and didn’t look like conceding any goals. To go with our run of defensive form, we managed to open the scoring after a clinical shot from Paul. We doubled our advantage later on after Paul took another well worked goal. We were then cruising to a victory which would have put all the pressure ion EHA1 FC, but alas we conceded 2 goals in the last 2 minutes, the 2nd a clearance which bounced off their defender straight into the attackers path. Overall a thoroughly disappointing game for us, which almost certainly condemned us to relegation. Even their manger said that he didn’t think that they would break us down and can’t understand how we lost. That sums up our season! |
