Sharp Shooters v Slimey Diamonds |
SS 4 - Slimeys 4 23rd Nov 2004 |
I am writing this report as a third party, as unfortunately I had to work late. After speaking to the stand in captain, Andy, this result was a fair reflection of the match. We quickly went 1 – 0 up with 4 men, as Me and Alex didn’t play and Tom was late. Steve made the team up to 5 men with his 2 whole minutes for us. After our initial goal we scored 3 more and at half time were 4 – 1. The goals came from Andy (2) and Paul (2). In the 2nd half we were lucky not to concede more, as one of their shots rolled across our line after coming off the inside of the post, but it didn’t go in. Overall everyone played well and this was a fair result. |

SS 7 - Slimey Diamonds 10 25th Jan 2005 |
This was a good match to watch with lots of entertainment. I can’t remember too much of the game because the goals just kept going in. I don’t think that at any point we took the lead and were always between 1 & 3 goals behind. The match overall was a poor defensive display by both teams, with a total of 17 goals being conceded. The goal scorers for the SS were Me (1), Tom (3), James (1), Spanton (1), Paul (1) and Andy (1) I think. There was a decent strike from me in my own half and a nice little dribble and tight finish from Tom. The achievement of the night has to be James C who hasn’t scored for the SS in a while, whilst Spanton scored his 2nd goal from us. This match was a mediocre display that we can use to build on and showed that we have attacking potential. Anyway, onto next week against Schenker and hopefully secure at least a mid table finish. |

SS 6 - Slimey Diamonds 3 15th March 2005 |
Last nights match was a breath of fresh air and showed the Sharp Shooters working hard and playing like we can. As we didn’t show up last week, the pressure of 7 games without a victory (apart from a walkover against Schenker) was building up on us. The match started hard with both teams battling for everything, defending resolutely and generally fighting for every ball. This has been lacking in previous weeks and our hunger showed. The match was 0 – 0 at half time which is always a shock in 5-aside football. In the 2nd half the match started in the same vain, but we quickly went 1 – 0 down. We equalised through Paul to draw it level and then he again put us in the lead. They scored a well worked 2nd goal, but from then on we were on top. There were flowing moves and nice touches from everyone. Paul eventually scored 4 and Andy scored 2, they scored a consolation goal at the end. Overall this was an impressive win and showed what we can do when we play as a team and have the will to win. Everyone played well tonight and deserves a mention. |
Season 13 |
This was a match that showed what we could do if we played as a team. We played like this last week, but due to our lack of finishing the match finished in a draw, this week was far more comprehensive. The match started brightly with me scoring a goal early soon, I then scored again with a side foot into the corner after a sloppy pass from the defender. I thought I might get my hat trick, but to no avail. Early on though the Slimeys should have been down to 4 men, after a deliberate hand ball stopped us having a goal scoring chance. The match continued in the same vain after that with clinical finishes from Spanton and Tom before half time. We conceded a couple of sloppy goals, so at half time we were 4 – 2 up. The 2nd half started brightly with Andy grabbing 2 goals with some fine strikes and Paul scoring a penalty. The penalty came after the defender was in the box for about the 4th time in the match, the ref never saw it (he didn’t see much). They didn’t produce much going forward with Dave’s only contribution in the 2nd half 1 save and 1 other shot on goal which went in. Overall this was a good result and although James C didn’t score he worked tenaciously. We had one ruled out at the end as it was after the whistle, which capped off the refs not so amazing performance. It was a relief to win for the first time in 7 weeks. |
