One of the most important thing any potential  Breeder can do is ask themselves HONESTLY why they want to become a Dog Breeder? Is it because you want to make a little extra cash?  The neighbors have said they would like to have a dog  just like yours?  Because you think it would be great for your children to experience the "miracle of  birth" ?  Because your dog is the most beautiful specimin of that breed ( or mixed breed) you have ever seen & want another one?  If you answered YES to any or all of those  questions, then your breeding for the wrong reason entirely.   Breeding any animal should be done  solely for the purpose of improving the breed. Improving health, temprement & maintaining "type".  Again I would like to refer you back to our GENETICS and HEALTH ISSUES page. In these pages you will find why your litters/breedings may not turn out with the same health, temerament & beautiful appearance your assuming you can duplicate.   Also  read on the HOME page the link to "So you want to be a breeder". If your doing it correctly, vetting appropriately, feeding correctly, there isnt much money to be made at all if any!!!! SUPRISED??? Most usually are when they are sitting in the ER clinic with a female in labor distress & find out the C-Section she will need  will cost you $1500 & you could potentially loose the entire litter.  Below is some great information on what I feel  to be the responsible approach to breeding & some  things that need to be part of your consideration & plan before you ever consider breeding!!!
