Have you ever wondered...??? .. What makes one dog white, another black, one dog has spots, another is sable. One dog has long hair, another short. Why one dog in a litter has Hip Displasya, another doesn't, one dog has strong ears, while a littermate has weak ears.. why some dogs are short, why others are tall... why some dogs contract disease & others seemingly are healthy all their life?? Its simple GENETICS. Genetics effects everything living, people, aminals, plants.. everything looks they way it does largely due to genetics.. This page will provide links to information and education on..... simply GENETICS. Give you some basic understanding of the hows & whys of genetics. If you choose to purchase a pet, make sure that the parents of the offspring have full health testing. You can't change genetics, but you sure can minimize the risk of genetic disease being carried onto offspring knowing if a dog is affected, or a carrier of any genetic disease. This is why I feel this topic & hense this page is important. If healthier puppies were produced, less of them would consiquently end up being euthanized or in shelters due to the inability of poeple to care for some of these VERY EXPENSIVE genetic diseases.
