Danielle
Cole's profile has been updated.
Last weekend Danielle competed
at Pan Pacific Continental Championships at Lake Macquarie in
NSW. She had to race up an age group into 14 girls due to only
herself and # 5 world attending for 13 girls. She finished with a
8th which now makes her #8 Pacific Oceanic and World # 38. Not
a bad day to race. Danielle has been told that next years Pan
Pacific Continental Championships will be in Japan, so she wont be
going to try and improve on that PO or World ranking for a while.

X
“Australia One” Plates to Team Redline
Team
Redline
have come away from the Aussie
Titles in Adelaide with an impressive number for finals
placing's. Michael Vockenson Doubled in Junior Elite with his junior men
team mate’s, Ashley
Pemberton placing Second in Junior Cruiser and 6th in
20 inch and Todd Pascoe placing 7th in Junior Cruiser.
The
Callan family from Victoria came home with an incredible haul of
Australian plates. Ziggy,
who is the younger year level in Junior Elite, placed second in both
Junior Elite 20 inch and Cruiser, Josh
placed first in 15 Boys and semi in 15 / 16 Cruiser and father Damien placed first in 40 –44 Cruiser. Both Josh and Ziggy were
also in the top place getters in all the UCI and Champbikx rounds. Josh
and Ziggy
are now focusing on their world
titles campaign for 2006 - BRAZIL.
Todd
Pascoe continues
to do a great job for Redline and BMXA in the High Performance Team.
Todd placed 3rd in the UCI round and was unlucky to miss
out on a finals berth in the 20 inch Championship final. Todd is
currently ranked 1st in Junior Elite in Oceania and on the World
rankings.
Redlines new recruit, Melinda
McLeod
of Mackay is a young lady going places Extremely Faaast.
Melinda, racing in the 18 & Under Ladies Cruiser at 13
years of age took out 2nd place, to none other than world beater
speed-queen Caroline Buchanan. Melinda went on to confidently claim
1st place in her respective 13 year age 20" class. Given
her Amazing Effort, we have no doubt Melinda will follow in the
footsteps of Ziggy Callan.
All the Redline Crew did a Fantastic job this year, our own Mighty
Eleven’s from Perth, Hannah
Throns
and Luke Tanner were both
finalists and unlucky not to finish in the top two.
Luke Pretlove showed his style in 17 – 24 men placing
second, Justin Braybon who is a consistent finalist
placed 5th in 15 boys and made finals in both Champbikx
rounds. Our rising star of the future, new member, Troy
Elliott from Toowoomba was unbeaten all week in the 7 boys
and cannot wait to get to the action in 2007 when he can compete in
9 Boys for a plate.
The RL Team would like to thank Bill
Demaid
and all the crew at Redline
and BMX
International
for their support.

- Photographer in Melbourne |
We
received the e-mail below. If you are interested please
contact Alison Church. Her details are below.
My name is
Alison Church and I am a photojournalist in Melbourne. I am working
on a personal photo project about women in sports/athletics. I am
particularly interested in photographing women who are in sports
which are still considered to be male-dominated, such as rugby,
boxing, bmx, etc.
I
found your website after doing some research and was wondering if
you might be able to put me in contact with some girls/women who
race BMX competitively or do it for fun. I would like to just come
along sometime when they practice and of course if there is a
competition. I would be happy to pass along any photos that I take
so that you can use them on the website. Please feel free to contact
me by email or mobile. Thanks!

- Frankston BMX will host the Yamaha Mini SX |
By:
Garry Morrow
The
event will take place on Tuesday April 25th (Anzac day public
holiday) at the Frankston BMX track with full support from Frankston
City Council.
"Tuesday
April 25th (Anzac day public holiday) is the perfect opportunity to
run the event without clashing with Crusty or any other races. Being
a public holiday we believe it will also leave many locals looking
for something to do, where hopefully the Mini SX will fit nicely.
"Conditions
of running on Anzac day mean that racing can’t start until after
1:00pm which will work out fine. We will get practice etc completed
in the morning as per the entry form and racing will start at
1:15pm," Sinclair added.
VOLUNTEERS
WANTED - John Durso who helps out at all the Vic Clubs on race days
is asking for anyone to spare an hour to come down and give us a
hand. We
are expecting up to 2000 spectators. The Frankston rotary is
handling the BBQ.
We
need some people for berm officials, canteen support, general.
We
are receiving a substantial amount of money to help host this event
– The money will be used to recreate the track and facilities
before Track Attack.
Our New lights are up, the fence is fixed and the start Hill
cover is now finished. The
Council will tackle the toilets and the canteen next.
Come
and Support Us.
Thank
You

As you would
all be aware, much of Far North Queensland has been damaged by
Cyclone Larry. In particular, the Innisfail, Cairns and
Atherton areas. These 3 BMX tracks all need some work to get
them re-built.
As a result BMX South Queensland is
conducting a fundraiser. They are calling for donations of
goods, services or money. Visit http://southqld.bmxa.com.au.

- AIS Cross Country MTB Sport Talent Search Program |
The
Australian Institute of Sport Talent Search Program
is conducting an exciting project looking to identify females with
persistence and determination to succeed in
CROSS
COUNTRY MOUNTAIN BIKING.
We
are seeking females aged
between 17 to 27 years old (parental
consent required if <18 years old)
with
experience riding a bicycle (road, track, BMX, MTB) and who live in
Victoria, NSW or the ACT (ACT
residents: if you are willing to travel to Sydney for testing).
The
“Dirt
Roads to London” initiative
aims to identify the most talented females who could potentially
represent Australia at the 2012 Olympics Games in London and provide
them with the opportunities to become nationally and internationally
competitive mountain bikers. The Australian Institute of Sport
Talent Search Program will provide coaching from some of the best
mountain bike coaches in Australia, training and education camps and
assistance with access to competition.
We
are looking for a pool of approximately 20 athletes that have the
physical and mental endurance to go the distance!
It
would be greatly appreciated if you could make your members aware of
this initiative. BMX has provided Australia with some amazing talent
given the exceptional skills and sprint ability these riders
develop; however, not all can make the elite level in BMX and not
all are ultimately suited to sprint events. Therefore this
initiative is another opportunity for those who love cycling and may
have more endurance qualities to go to another level in cycling.
For
those interested, please log on to our website for further
information regarding
the testing locations and
to register your
interest before 17th April 2006:

or email Tammie Ebert at

- Katrina Durso Update |
Katrina's
performance has dwindled in the last 12 months. At first we thought
it was getting back into form after her broken thumb but with the
lack of energy and other symptoms we took her for a full check up 2
weeks ago.
Katrina
has just been diagnose with Celiac Disease.
Katrina
will under go further test to see how much damage there is but in
the meantime a whole New diet has been introduced and Katrina's love
for pasta has to stop.
What
is celiac disease?
Celiac
disease is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and
interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. People who have
celiac disease cannot tolerate a protein called gluten, found in
wheat, rye, and barley. Gluten is found mainly in foods, but is also
found in products we use every day, such as stamp and envelope
adhesive, medicines, and vitamins.
When
people with celiac disease eat foods or use products containing
gluten, their immune system responds by damaging the small
intestine. The tiny, fingerlike protrusions lining the small
intestine are damaged or destroyed.
Because
the body's own immune system causes the damage, celiac disease is
considered an autoimmune disorder. However, it is also classified as
a disease of malabsorption because nutrients are not absorbed.
Celiac disease is also known as celiac sprue, nontropical sprue, and

- Nicole Callisto out injured |
Unfortunately
Nicole Callisto (Current World #1) is going to be off the bike for awhile as she will
undergo a knee reconstruction shortly.
The following is taken from the Race
BMX WA website.
As
you may have read, Nicole Callisto took a heavy fall at the Track
Attack Series in Melbourne in mid January, sustaining a knee injury.
Unfortunately it has become a worst case scenario. Nicole will be
returning to Perth on Saturday and will be undergoing a knee
reconstruction in the near future. This will cost the current Elite
Women's National Champion and Junior Elite Women's World Champion
both of her titles, with an expected recovery time of 6 months. Our
thoughts are with Nicole and her family. |

4/2/06
- Nerang BMXSQ DK Shootout |
Nerang
was the venue for BMXSQ dk SHOOTOUT-2
(the first event of the series due to round-1 at Cent. Plains
being rained out)
250
riders attended the meet and it was plain to see, those from
previous shootout series, knew that every point counted towards the
final round points tally - with plenty up for grabs, including the BMXTRONIC
start system which will be given away at the last round to a lucky
top three rider.
Each
round of the series will see the top 8 pro riders from the previous
round, take on the BMXTRONIC
Start system, with the fastest timed rider receiving $50 cash each
round.
This
first round, the contenders were drawn out of a hat - to start off.
The contest was conducted during the break, so the riders only had
one test gate, and then the real-deal. It was a real test of the
riders ability to adapt quickly to the system, and I'm sure
concentration was tested to the limit.
The
system was set up on the famous Nerang start hill. Smiley
Janssen, Wade Bootes, Errol Domin, Ref Mark Timperly, and Tony
Ulyate
Officiating.
We had no sooner set the system up and announced what was going on,
and the first straight was flooded with onlookers each side of the
first straight, to gain a front row seat of the action. It more
resembled a top-fueler Drag race at Willowbank Race-Way!, as the
competitors primed them selves to run the gauntlet.
Wade
screamed out the rider times as the ever growing crowd encroached
the track to cheer their favourite champions.
The
contenders were
(drawn from hat) - (in timed order):
Dirk
Winter - 1.78 (winner)
Tomas
Cooper - 1.85
Neil Brunjes - 1.87
Renee Junga - 1.92
Mitchell Howard - 1.95
Jasper Gaffney - 1.97
Ben Maher - 2.06
Mike Young - 2.14
Well
done all.... and a great new and exciting attraction at the DK
Shootout Series, thanks to BMXTRONIC.
You can check out the system at www.bmxtronic.com.

MacPherson (former 6 time BMX World Champion) is continuing her fine
