I don’t know where
to start, it’s been a long time since I’ve written a newsletter. First let me correct a mistake I made in the
last newsletter. I gave incorrect
information about Don Stratton. Here is
the correct information that he sent me.
Don writes: I'm with

Steven Johnson are opening another chiropractic Office

We found one of
our missing classmates thanks to our web site.
I was so very excited, this means it is working and worth all the hard
work.
Here is what we
received from Glenda:
Just took a chance on researching Summerlin
class of 1966 and found myself among the list of missing classmates.
I am Glenda Faye Carter. I am
now married to Ronald L. Radford. I currently live at:
Being a retired secretary, I now
play gypsy and travel with my husband. He has not retired yet. He
works, usually, around or on the beaches of the coastlines. He is one of
those that rebuilds beaches after storms and makes them tourist attractions.
In 2005, we sold our home, of Oh So
Many Years, in Okeechobee, FL. and purchased our current home on the outskirts

I am the mother of two daughters and
two step-daughters. My husband and I raised two nephews and have been
surrogate parents of several other children. I claim fifteen
grandchildren. However, I only have five grandchildren from my two
daughters.
It would be so great to hear about
some of our classmates. It has been so long that I probably will not be
remembered. The span of years are so great just
like the memories in my heart.
This is an article
taken from the June Harley Davidson Newspaper in
By Dixie Yost who attended
our first Women's Garage Party in
I took the all women's Rider's Edge Class in
February. It was one of the most exciting and rewarding things I've ever done.
The 25 hours of intense instruction in the classroom and on the course was
taught in such a way that you never felt intimidated. I would highly recommend
this class for the experienced and inexperienced rider. I rode bikes
approximately 35 years ago on and off the road so I had some knowledge of what
it's like to ride. We owned street legal dirt bikes and loved every minute of
it. In class I soon learned how things have changed, bikes have changed, laws
have changed and of course, traffic has changed. There's more of it.
Diana Dickerson, Program Manager, is certainly well
trained and knowledgeable in riding as well as teaching. She is a natural who
put you at ease with every lesson and has the patience that a class like this
required for each student. There is nothing left out from the lessons that are
taught in the classroom and on the course. There was never an unanswered
question. Yet, on the other hand, I was fortunate enough to have been in the
class with 4 teachers. Along with Diana we had Mary Ann, Rhonda and David to
assist her so all of us were well taught. The best way to describe how I felt
about the class was that on my way home I couldn't stop calling my family and
friends just to let them know that I had passed. I was so excited about the
entire experience. I was truly proud of myself. I had accomplished something
that not everyone else had done. Everyone wanting to ride should take the
Rider's Edge Class. It will certainly build your self esteem and confidence and
make you feel good all over.

This is the web address to the present

beginning.
Keep up the good work (site is
great). Dorman
I received this picture and couldn’t
wait to share it with all of you. I’m
willing to bet this brings back lots of good memories. I know you are smiling,
I did when I saw it. Those were the good
ole days and haven’t you wished at sometime or another that our children could
have experienced

As far as what I'm doing with the
bookmarks--I am so excited about your putting it in the newsletter. I
have left teaching to run my national mail-order bookmark business called Novel
Ideas. I sell bookmarks to schools for teachers, staff, and volunteer
appreciation and motivation. I am planning to build the inventory to
include other items, but these bookmarks are what made it possible for me to
leave teaching.
The website is novelideas.com.
It is under construction.
I started the business in 1988 because I wanted to do something to make money
to purchase a harpsichord (the first keyboard instrument that eventually led to
the modern-day piano).
In the past two years I have been able to start the business back up
again. At this time, there are nearly 2 million bookmarks in distribution
to every state, including
My pen name is Elizabeth Andrew, which is a combination of the given names of
my two children, Beth (
I feel very blessed to be able to leave teaching and build this business.
I also feel blessed that Drew now helps me with it. (I'm still working on
Beth!)
That's my bookmark business. I am very thankful for it. When I tell
people about it, I always like to give all the credit to God. Please
include that in the write-up.
Thanks again for putting this in the newsletter! Linda
The new football stadium is under
construction, I plan on taking pictures to send soon as I have time. I will also send out a letter to all of our
classmates about the campaign for donors to sponsor pillars, etc. around the
total sports complex. They are creating
an alumni row for past and or present classes of Summerlin
Institute/Bartow High School to be honored.
Hopefully our class will not be left out and our classmates will be able
to donate. More on this as soon as I get
all the information. Watch your mailbox,
snail mailbox since we don’t have email addresses for all classmates.
It is with much sadness that I must
tell you we have lost another classmate.
Alan Wright passed away this morning, cause of death is pending. Our prayers go out to his Mother,
Alan had been living with her since his retirement from the service. He was taking care of her while she went
through Chemo and radiation treatments.
Remember to keep me posted with new
addresses, new email addresses and any other news that you would like to share
with our classmates.
