- a heavy usually tapering staff especially of wood wielded as a weapon
- a stick or bat used to hit a ball in any of various games
- an association of persons participating in a plan by which they agree to make regular payments or purchases in order to secure some advantage
- something resembling a club

First of all, soccer is a game.
The main player is actually called a player.
Soccer is a sport.
You need a coach to master the game. A regulator and a referee to get the rules respected. An organisation for the competition.
Soccer can also be a show.
The spectator is always welcome.
Soccer happens to be a business...
When I see people like Thierry Henry smile on the field, I'm positive soccer ain't dead yet. Some seem to keep the right priorities.
