Stitch To It Directory And Review | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Page Six | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Stitching Bits and Bobs This is one of my personal favorite sites, I shop here myself. Their selection is huge. They carry everything from Teresa Wentzler to Lizzie Kate. Quite a breadth of design types. An amazing number of threads, a nice selection of hand dyed fabrics and wonder of wonders PICTURES OF ALL OF THEM!!! Enough gadgets to keep me happy (OK, ok there are never enough gadgets to keep me happy I admit it) and a pleasant easy to navigate layout besides. I also very much like the fact that you can use Pay Pal to order which allows me to pay by check rather than use the credit card. Get on their email list to stay up to date on sales. Stitching Bit's and Bobs will become one of your favorites I guarantee. |

The Silver Needle If you are a dedicated needleworker, you know the name. This is one of the very best cross stitch sites on the web hands down. Their selection of books, leaflets and kits is huge, and if you like surprises there is always their famous Silver Needle Night. You get a kit each month (or you can order them one at a time) which can be stitched quickly along with a fun recipe. It allows mail order customers to participate in a monthly get together held at the shop itself. Silver Needle has several other programs where you can have kits mailed to you automatically, I think they are worthwhile. I think the entire site is worthwhile. Again one of the very best sites on the web. |

Selmas Yarns.com -- Cross stitch, crewel, needlepoint and more A very nice site with a good clean layout. When you click on the about us link you get pictures of the storefront and inside. Makes you feel you are really paying a visit to the store. This is a comprehensive store that sells canvaswork, applique, yarn, crewel and the like in addition to straight embroidery supplies. They have an excellent selection of Aida cloth, they carry the entire DMC floss range and the entire Anchor Range,and all Paternayan wool as well nice if you live in a region that doesn't have one or the other. However journalistic honesty forces me to point out that AC Moore has DMC for half the cost they charge here. Please remember though that this is essentially an LNS with a web presence. So that's why the price may be higher. If you do get a project here, pay the extra, get the floss from them, and support the store if you can. They do seem to be rather nice. If you sign up for their newsletter you will be given a URL that will give you access to tons of free patterns, some worth your while, some not, but a nice gesture anyway. There are more sophisticated places but I just get a warm fuzzy feeling from this site. Come take a look I think you'll like them, especially if you do anything beyond cross stitch. |

Stitches and Stuff - Cross Stitch mail order for your needlework needs I really like this store. The site layout is very clean and easy to navigate, they have more fibers than you can shake a stick at and their list of designers is truly astonishing. Not that many accessories but they do have Q-snap in the six inch size which is hard to find. The Q-snap prices are high but if you don't have a local source this is a good place to come. But The best, best thing about this place, is that if you see something you are desperate to have, cannot find it in a shop, but Hoffman distribution's got it, they will order it for you. Imagine being able to obtain anything from the Hoffman catalog? Samething goes for the Canadian counterpart of Hoffman Kelsea Sales. (Hoffman is the main distributed of needlework stuff in the USA) This is reason enough to go to this store. That and the designer list. |

Stitching Needlepoint Crafts Don't know really how to describe this site. Basically commercial, lots of different things. No real depth but a good place to look for other sites. Almost a directory, and also has some free charts available. Take a look you'll see what I mean. |

Seaside Treasures Seaside Treasures offers a small but beautiful array of hand dyed floss. Some of the nicest ovedyeds I've seen and at a very reasonable price. She offers a DMC conversion chart, and a few designs made for the range are available as well. I encourage floss addicts like myself to check them out. |

Stichers' Paradise Oh, people I am in heaven! If you've read a few of these reviews, you may have noticed I have a thing for accessories and notions. Well folks, I found a few here I've never seen anywhere else, and that I just have to have! Three different types of tools for removing stitches, sweet little pewter pincushions (even a penguin and you know I liked that one!), and the specialized tools you need for Japanese embroidery. They have tons of thread, Glissen Gloss, Rainbow Gallery, Eterna Silk, Anchor, Appleton (a lovely wool if you don't know it) and more. They even try to give you an idea of how much of a particular thread they have in stock. (their listings say some colors, most colors and so on. A good idea I think) Wonderful Blackwork, lovely cross stitch and a nice selection of hand painted canvases. Take special note of the Judaica section, it's small but exceptional. Stitcher's Paradise lives up to it's name. |
