Aya Mikage - The heroine of our story, Aya starts out as a happy schoolgirl about to turn 16, enjoying going out after school with her brother and friends to karaoke. She thinks of herself as just another person, like anybody else in Japan, who will never be well known for anything. She wants to stand out and shine, so to speak. Come her 16th birthday, her life gets turned upside down. She's betrayed by her family, ad almost gets killed by them. She winds up surviving, and gets taken in by the Aogiri, who explain to her the story of the tennyo, and how she is one. From there, she must deal with her family, who want to experiment on her, and countless others with tennyo blood in their veins. And also, she must deal with Ceres, and try to get the raging tennyo to not kill her brother and possibly try to help them stop the Mikage from doing wrong.
Ceres - Tennyo spirit that shares a body with Aya, Ceres can take over Aya's body when she pleases for the most part [unless Aya really tries to fight her]. When we first meet Ceres, we just know that she's bent on killing the Mikage family, especially Aki. She claims that the scars on Aki's body proves he is the man who took her hagoromo and shamed her, so that would lead us to believe Ceres is a revenge-set tennyo, and a real bitch, simply put. But as she comes in contact with humans, such as Yuuhi, Chidori, Tooya and everyone else Aya encounters throughout the series, she seems to actually be a gentle soul that was hurt in the past. The main goal for Ceres is to just get her hagoromo back so she can return to heaven.
Aki Mikage - Aya's twin brother, Aki is protective of his little sister. But opposite of Aya, Aki doesn't really care if he's ordinary, he's just happy enough with the simple things in life. But on that fateful birthday, when scars suddenly appeared and opened all over Aki's body, he was kept by the Mikage, and he was told he was descended from the man who took Ceres' hagoromo. He's forced not to see Aya, and stays at first, with his grandfather, but soon after at the Mikage International building with Kagami. To help Aya, he allows them to experiment on him to try and call out the memories of the whereabouts of the hagoromo. But as they continue, the actual being of the descendent starts to awaken. Since Aya and Ceres are the same, the descendents thoughts of Ceres cause Aki to think he was in love with Aya, when it was just actually the memories. Aki finally sleeps when he gets taken over by the descendant.
Mikagi - We don't know too much about Mikagi, or Shiso as many people call him. I call him Shiso when he takes over Aki's body, and Mikagi when I refer to the past. Anyway, when Shiso takes over Aki's body, all he wants is Ceres, when they have confrontations, he refuses to tell her what he did with the hagoromo long ago. So from that, everyone would think Shiso is, and always had been cruel like that. When he takes over Aki, Shiso pretty much just pursues Ceres, and many a time tries to do/make out with her. e.e; But Mikagi once used to be a normal and kind human, what caused him to become such a demon? Well I don't want to spoil it for you. ^_~
Tooya - We first see Tooya when he saves Aya from almost getting hit by a car, when Aya goes to her grandfather's, he's there too. After Aya almost gets killed by her family, she finally gets to know this mysterious man. Tooya says that he works for the Mikage to find out about himself. He has no memories of the past, and the only two names he remembered were "Tooya" and "Mikage", which is what lead him to the Mikage family. They promised him they would give him back his memories if he helped them, and since he has nothing else to loose, he does just that. But when he meets Aya, he has to choose between the Mikage and his memories, and her. Guess which he chooses? ^-^ From then on, the Mikage try and get him back [well... Wei most of all], and he has to stay with Aya and protect her, being attacked by pasts that may not be true, and some that might. The name "Tooya" means ten nights.
