Legend of the Tennyo
Long ago there was a fisherman who was walking in the forest. Something caught his eye from the distance, and as he approached it, it was a robe, hanging off one of the branches of a tree. In the lake nearby was a woman, bathing there. This woman was a tennyo, a celestial being from heaven. The man hid her robe, which allowed her to return to heaven, so she was forced to stay with him, and tearfully became his wife. After time, she heard her children sing a song, which lead her to her hidden robe. And she returned to heaven, leaving her husband and children behind.
Yes, what a nice story-book story. However, if you want to know the actual story, click here to find out what really happened with Ceres and Mikagi. Mind you, it's all spoilers. You have been warned, so don't complain to me if you see something you didn't want to know!! ;D!
Our story is about a schoolgirl named Aya Mikage who has to fight fate, and her own family who are trying to capture her, or rather the tennyo that shares a body with her. Okay, how to explain it as easy as possible...
Aki and Aya are twin siblings who get tested on their 16th birthday, with a hand of a tennyo mummy [Ceres' mummy]. This awakens Ceres in Aya's body, Ceres is able to take over her body just about whenever she wants, unless Aya fights it. When Ceres first awakens in Aya, her family tries to kill her, but when they try shooting her, her tennyo powers block them all, and in retalliatiom she... pretty much blows up the house. From then on, she's taken in by the Aogiri, and has to fight the Mikage, who not only want Ceres, but are starting a project all about the tennyo. From a blood sample they got from Ceres, they made a substance, using it, they sneak it into peoples drinks and stuff. And if they have tennyo blood in them, they start to show signs of just that, a lot of times they go out of control too, or the power suddenly being released from their body is too much for them to control.
But anyway, with Ceres trying to kill them, she especially wants to kill Aki. On the day they were tested, scars appeared out of nowhere, all over Aki's body. After that he was kept with the Mikage, and they didn't want him to meet Aya. Aki was the decendant of Mikagi, who was the man who took Ceres' hagoromo, so naturally, Ceres wants to kill his ass. Aya, on the other hand, doesn't want her to kill her kind and sweet brother!! So she promises Ceres that she'll find her hagoromo so she can return to heaven, and not kill Aki. :D But pretty soon, Mikagi completely awakens in Aki's body [after much torture, and even driving Aki to think he was in love with Aya], and goes for Ceres. And of course to kill Tooya because in Mikagi's eyes, Aya and Ceres were the same, and since Aya was in love with Tooya, Mikagi was super jealous. All in all Ayashi No Ceres is revolved around Aya's fight with Ceres and her family, and her love with Tooya. Much death and sadness in the series, which makes it very dramatic, and touches the people who read/watch it.
Personally, I dislike Aya. Though she wants things to be normal again, she spends too much time having mushy love scenes with Tooya. And since my favorite character is Aki... ^^; it makes me mad that she's too busy with Tooya to try and save him, by finding the hagoromo for Ceres. But fear not, this site is for Ayashi No Ceres, and it shall no be a bash AyaxTooya site, as much as anyone dislikes them.
