Jerry Cantrell, lead guitarist and singer, was born in Tacoma, WA on March 18, 1966. His father, "The Rooster", was in Vietnam at the time. Jerry's mother, Gloria Jean Cantrell, died right before Jerry made it big. He said that hhis mother was very musical. She played the piano and sang. Jerry started playing guitar when he was about 11 or 12, but he didn't play so seriously. When he hit 17 he finally decided to take music serious and began to practice more and more on the guitar. When Jerry was young he was in the boy scouts. Of course, that didn't last to long. He got pissed when he had to wear that gay scarf thingy and so he quit. Soon after that he grew out his hair and begun his new road for life.
Is Jerry an odd person?? Well, let's just think about that one. He dressedup as women to become his better half, Nona Weisbaum. Yep, that sums it up don't ya think? Jerry isn't know for his love of fishing and hunting. He has numerous fishing poles and rifles in his house, and has put on clinics to teach kids to fish. In December of '91, Jerry and his brother were out hunting when Jerry forgot that November only had 30 days and 31, so he missed the Dec. 1st concert with VanHalen.
