In (159b) the officers of the Gatekeepers corps lead the way on horseback followed by a group of surgeons dressed in woolen cloaks. In (160a) we see a line of twelve surgeon majors followed by two figures on horseback. The figure wearing the purple kaftan and round white turban is Süleyman Efendi, the surgeon general. The Janissary guards in this frame are carrying miniature festival-trees, as if presaging the real ones that appear in the next couple of scenes.
