3/03
We are currently working hard every weekend fixing leaks and generally getting the boat ready for LaDonna's move aboard. Rob's general feeling on all this work says it all:  "Ignorance really IS bliss!"
4/03
It was a long hard month but I finally got everything in my apartment either sold or packed up (mostly sold) and made the move aboard. Fred (the boat cat) hated the ride in the car but seemed to really enjoy exploring his new home. Boy, we sure are gonna have to lose a lot of Rob's stuff to fit all MY stuff!

Work is progressing nicely. We've rebed most through deck fittings and are working on the sail track and caprail. The new-to-us Wallas heater is installed though not hooked up yet; the hole in the sole forward (due to rot) has been "fixed" by building a step there (thanks, Dad!) - this makes it ten times easier to hop in & out of the Vberth AND creates tons more storage space; my dad also built shelves for the useless hanging locker. We're now planning on rebedding the leaky hatches which means a trip to Portland for supplies. Fred is adapting well though he did get seasick on his first short trip on the ocean! We've also learned that he's a good swimmer - thank goodness we were at the dock!
6/7/03 Sad news. Fred the Boat Cat has disappeared and the worst is feared. He was the best cat ever and is sorely missed. We love you, Bud!
7/03 Great news! Fred has been found & is happily eating his way through the boat! He hung out in the parking lot of the marina for about four days before we found him. He loves how much we spoil him now!
We have also done quite a bit of work lately. All the deck leaks are fixed and the overhead is back up. We're doing more paring down so I can have a thing or two aboard but it sure is tough! We'll be installing new New Found Metals portlights before we leave (like, this week) so they'll be sparkling purty for the party (check it out
here). We've also been doing lots of crabbing and recently started clamming. MMMMM!
9/03 - The last two months saw us cramming to get the boat and ourselves ready to head out. We had a great going-away party at the end of August and made ready to leave the first week of Sept. The muffler gods had other plans! After a week of waiting for the new muffler, we lost our weather window and had to wait another week to head out. For details on the trip down the coast, check out the San Fran logs above.
