Our Patrol

By Katherine (PBT)

Our patrol consists of 6 members, Jennifer, Sam, Kathryn, Emma-Jane (E-J) Katherine and Laura. Each one has their own patrol job, Jennifer is Patrol leader (PL), her job is to come up with some ideas and keep everyone under control (I think!). Sam is Patrol seconder (PS) and games and prayers organiser. Her job is to organise someone to do games and prayers when it is our patrols turn. She also takes over Jennifer's job as patrol leader when she's away. Kathryn is our accountant (PA) she looks after the money and any money has dissapeared she'll know where it is! She keeps a table of what comes in and what goes out. Also if you need to buy something for the patrol she will pay you back fron the patrol fund, This way makes sure that everyone contributes their fair share towards the cost of our activities. E-J is our writer and artist (WA). Although her name suggests that she does all the writing, she doesn't do much more than most of us! Her job really is to organise people to write articles for the website or Wycombe Guide (our district newsletter). I (Katherine) am the Patrol box tidier (PBT) I make stuff to help organise the box, I usually tidy it at the start of the patrol time but by the end of the evening its usually messy again! Laura is our newest member and we have only just given her a job, it is a sort of patrol co-ordinator, she is in charge of getting the patrol box out, collecting in our 10p's at the beginning of patrol time. She has an easy job (from my point of view anyway!)
Our patrol has quite young members at the moment, Jennifer is 14, Kathryn in 12 and so is Sam. E-J and I are 11 and have started secondary school last September and Laura is 10.
From my point of view we are the most organised patrol! Each patrol is good in its own way and everyone says we're the organised lot! We usually have 30-45 minutes patrol time and we spend the first 5 collecting our 10ps in and doing our jobs! Every week everyone brings 10p to go into our patrol fun, this we use when we need to by something for our patrol or patrol box. Kathryn  then fills in her accounts sheet and Jennifer the role book, she marks down who owes money so that everyone brings their own share. I usually am tydying the patrol box in this time. We then either have a planning meeting or, most usually our activity that we have planned in our planning meeting. Our unit doesn't really have a Patrol Leaders council like many units, instead we have a questionaire which we fill in and give to our leader, Kestrel. We recently have been adapting to our new program with go-for-its, click below to view our progress!
