Kate and her pups are the result of many years of starting in collies only to have to stop and start over again as first one, then two then, 3...4...5 collie bitches I purchased did not turn out to be what I wanted in a brood bitch. I spent oodles of money and time only to have collies with lovely pedigrees either throw health issues in their pups or not turn out to be good enough themselves to breed. Many breeders can empathize with my story as it is unfortunately common for "newbie" breeders to get taken in by more experienced breeders interested in pawning off their own health/structure problems or unwilling to come clean about health problems in their own lines that should be bred away from...or not bred at all... This litter represents the culmination of many years of refusing to lower my standards. And frankly, is the result of my own bullheadedness. "They" said you couldn't have a show dog from "health-oriented" lines. "They" said you couldn't have normal eyed collies with pretty eyes. "They" said no collie can have both a beautiful head and a lovely body. "They" said there are show lines and working lines and healthy lines and you just can't have it all in one dog. I said, "Bullcrap." Twenty-two years later, we are breeding collies that are successful in the show ring, agility, obedience and herding and that consistently pass OFA, thyroid, cardiac and CERF. We are starting our DNA testing and our youngest collies are testing clear for MDR1, PRA, CEA and GCS. Collies CAN do it all.

My mother doesn't call it bullheadedness; she calls it persistence! Thanks, Mom. All of our current and future collies come down from this one exceptional litter.
