| Stories: Fantasia is not a normal full length animated feature. Fantasia is a series of classical music pieces brought to life with the animation of the Disney artists. The music pieces are collected by Walt Disney and Leopold Stokowski. There are eight music segments which together make up Fantasia. #1 "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" - Bach: A piece where the Disney artist used abstract animation inspired by the music. #2 "The Nutcracker Suite" - Tchaikowsky: This segment tells the story of the fairies, who change a forest during the seasons. It also shows you flowers, fish and mushrooms dancing along with the music. #3 "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" - Dukas: Probably the most famous segment from Fantasia. In this piece Mickey Mouse stars as the apprentice, who uses the magic for his master, the sorcerer Yen Sid. This goes horribly wrong when he brings a broom to life and can't stop it. #4 "Rite of Spring" - Stravinski: In this segment the Disney artists show you the birth of our planet and the age of the dinosaurs. #5 "The Pastoral Symphony" - Beethoven: Inspired by the myths for ancient Greece, this piece introduces the gods, half-gods and their friends. # 6 "Dance of the Hours" - Ponchielli: This is the funniest piece of the film. Here hippos practise ballet along with crocodiles and other animals. #7 "Night on Bald Mountain" - Mussorgsky: A dark piece which tells you what happens at night when normal people go to sleep. It shows you how Chernabog comes to life and his defeat by the dawn. #8 "Ave Maria" - Schubert: Right after Night on Bald Mountain comes this piece which symbolizes the peace of the dawn. |
