The 1970's
* December 24, 1970: The Aristocats premieres. This is the first animated feature which was created without Walt's supervision.
* October 1, 1971: The Magic Kingdom opens at Walt Disney World.
* December 20, 1971: Roy Disney dies.
* November 8, 1973: Robin Hood premieres.
* June 22, 1977: The Rescuers premieres.
The 1980's
* June 8, 1981: Walt Disney Productions buys the rights to Walt Disney's name and likeness, the steamtrain and monorail at Disneyland from Retlaw for Disney common stock worth $46,2 million.
* July 10, 1981: The Fox and the Hound premieres.
* October 1, 1982: EPCOT opens at Walt Disney World.
* April 1, 1983: Walt Disney Pictures is incorporated. It will be responsible for development, production and marketing of all live-action films and commercial television programs.
* April 15, 1983: Tokyo Disneyland opens. This is the first Disney themepark outside the USA.
* April 18, 1983: The Disney Channel first broadcast cable television.
* March 19, 1984: Touchstone Pictures releases its first film "Splash!"
* June 8, 1984: MM Acquisition Corporation tries to buy Walt Disney Productions for $67,50 a share.
* June 11, 1984: Walt Disney Productions buy 4,2 million shares from Reliance voor $328 million.
* September 22, 1984: Walt Disney Productions announces Micheal D. Eisner as chairman/CEO and Frank G. Wells as president/COO.
* June 24, 1985: The Black Cauldron premieres.  This is the first feature which uses the computer for animation.
* September 14, 1985: First Saturdaymorning cartoons y Disney: Gummibears on NBC and the Wuuzles on CBS.
* February 6, 1986: Walt Disney Productions becomes The Walt Disney Company.
* July 2, 1986: The Great Mouse Detective premieres.
* March 28, 1987: First Disney Store opens in Glendale.
* January 1, 1988: The Walt Disney Company buys Wrather Coo. that owns the Disneyland Hotel for $161 million cash and $89 million in dept.
* June 28, 1988: Opening of Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort at Walt Disney World.
* November 18, 1988: Oliver and Company premieres.
* May 1, 1989: Disney-MGM Studios and Pleasure Island open at Walt Disney World.
* November 6, 1989: The Walt Disney Company buys 49% of EuroDisney SCA.
* November 17, 1989: The Little Mermaid premieres.
