* November 1, 1990: First Disney Store opens outside the USA, in London. * November 10, 1990: The Rescuers Down Under premieres. This is the first sequel to an animated feature. * May 6, 1991: The Walt Disney Company enters the Dow Jones 30 Industrials. * November 15, 1991: Beauty and the Beast premieres. This movie is a big hit and the first animated feature ever to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. * April 12, 1992: EuroDisney Resort opens near Paris. One year later the name is changed in Disneyland Paris. * November 11, 1992: Aladdin premieres. This is the first animated feature to gross over $200 million. * December 9, 1992: National Hockey Legue gives Disney a license. The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are founded. * June 30, 1993: Buena Vista Pictures Distribution buys Miramax Films Coo. * February 16, 1994: Disney Goals is founded. * April 3, 1994: Frank Wells dies in a helicoptercrash. * April 8, 1994: Beauty and the Beast opens at Broadway breaking attendance and box office records. * June 15, 1994: The Lion King premieres. Till today this has been the biggest film of Disney, grossing over $300 million in the USA only. * July 3, 1994: The Lion King soundtrack #1 in the Billboardcharts for nine weeks. * September 6, 1994: 1 billionth guest visits the Disneyparks. * October 20, 1994: The Walt Disney Company sells 10% of their shares of EuroDisney SCA. * March 3, 1995: The Lion King becomes the topseliing video of all-time. 30 million copies domestically. * June 31, 1995: The Walt Disney Company buys Capital Cities/ABC for $19 billion. |
