| Story: The story begins when a toymaker is being kidnapped by a bat in the middle of the night. His young daugther, Olivia, goes in search of the famous Basil of Bakerstreet. Dr. Dawson, who has just returned to England and wants to retire, finds her and brings her to Basil. He first doesn't want to listen, but when he hears her story, he knows his great enemy, the evil Ratigan, is involved and makes this case a lot more exciting. Then suddenly Fidget, the bat, appears in front of the window. He escapes, but he leaves his hat, the first clue for Basil. With the help of Toby, a dog, the go in search of Fidget. Toby brings them to a toystore. When the three search the place, Fidget catches Olivia and escapes. Basil and Dr. Dawson are left behind. But Fidget has left another clue, his shoppinglist of stuff he had to get for Ratigan. Basil uses his tools to find the location of Ratigan with the help of the paper. It brings them to a pub at the docks. When they go undercover, Dr. Dawson is drugged by the bartender, but Basil notices Fidget. The two follow the bat to the hide-out of Ratigan. There they are welcomed by the big rat. He takes them as prisoners. Basil loses his faith. As Ratigan puts them is a devilious mousetrap, he explains that he has a meeting with the queen. After he has left, Basil suddenly becomes the old Basil again and rescues them from the trap. Quickly they go to the Palace. There Ratigan has kidnapped the Queen and replaced her by a robot, who tells the people that she has put Ratigan in control of the Kingdom. Basil and the rest arrive just in time to spoil Ratigans plans and he can just escape, taking Olivia with him. A chase throught the sky follows and Ratigan, Basil and Olivia crash into the Big Ben. Basil saves Olivia and hands her over to the others. Then the fight continues between Ratigan and Basil. Just as Ratigan seems to have won, the clock strikes and makes the rat fall off the towe, taking Basil down in his fall. But Basil wouldn't be Basil if he hasn't got a way of escaping this nearly dead. With a piece of Ratigan's airballoon he escapes. It is time to say goodbye to Olivia and her father. When Basil and Dr. Dawson are saying goodbye, a young lady arrives and ask for help. That's when Basil introduces Dr. Dawson as his companion. And that's the end of their first case and the beginning of a long partnership. |
