| Just months before Disneyland was opened, a new joy came to the lives of Walt and his family, a first grandchild named Christopher.Diane and Ron were the proud parents. There would follow five other siblings during Walt's live. A seventh was born after his death. Sharon married an architect named Bob Brown and they would have one child during Walt's live, Victoria. Two more would follow after his death. |

| Walt was very loving granddad and always had a camera with him. He adored his family and often took them to Disneyland before it opened to show them his dream. Walt and Lilly celebrated their 35th aniversary there. They danced on the stage on the Golden Horseshoe. Because Walt's commitment to the park, he couldn't devote himself to the studio like he did in the past. In the late 50's and early 60's the studio produced four animated feature:, "Lady and the Tramp", "Sleeping Beauty", "101 Dalmatians" and "The Sword in the Stone". The studio also produced many liva actions features like "Old Yeller", "Swiss Family Robinson" and "Pollyana". |
| Because of these series of lighthearted comedies that did reliably will in the box office, Walt's company in 1961 was debt free for the first time in some 20 years. Walt and Roy - who had always had their differences - had one of ther most protraced battles in 1963, when Roy determined he had to deal with WED Enterprices, which was beginning to put efforts in a new project in Florida. Roy saw a potential conflict of interest between Walt's personally owned comapny and the stockholder-owned Disney Company. After much talks, Walt reached a compromise with Roy. Walt would sell WED Enterprices to the Disney Company, but the rain at Disneyland would be his own. Walt then focused his attention |

| on a big-screen creation of "Mary Poppins". He had been trying to get the rights of the book, written by P.L. Travers for years. He brought in two of the best songwriters in the business, Richard and Robert Sherman. He often invited them late in the evening to his office, where they would play there songs for him. A tradition that would lasted for years, even after Walt passed away. Finally "Mary Poppins" debuted and received 13 Academy Award nominations. It also brought a new actress to the attention of the public, Julie Andrews. The movie was a jewel for the studio and people loved it. |
