On May 1, 1989 The Disney-MGM Studios opened its gates. It is the thirth themepark at the Walt Disney World Resort and the smallest. It's not only a themepark, but also a real studio where movies are shot and animation is produced. Disney didn't have a huge real-life movie library at the time it opened the park, so it closed a deal with MGM to use their titles. In 2005 the contract expires and the name will slowly disappear from the park. The park is divided into 5 lands or production areas.
