He had not had long to wait from arriving at Darkling Dawn until the hatching of the clutch was announced. With the other candidates and sponsors he strode out onto the sands, watching the clutch as it shook and cracked. Several dragons of various colors, all absolutely beautiful beings with long whiskers and slinky bodies, hatched and either bonded or decided to stay with one of the sponsors. Five eggs cracked all together, then, and he ran his eyes over the mass of dragonets that was freed. One, a bright blue in color, stalked straight towards him, then settled down at his side. Sondraun glanced down at it, then nodded slowly, accepting the hatchling's unvoiced choice. Of course, that didn't much solve the question of the hatchling's name... "I am Rourikan." The blue spoke softly, once they were away from the massed crowds. "I will be staying with you for a time, if you do not mind." He couldn't help a smile, "No, I don't mind. I'm Sondraun." Rourikan nodded, as if he had expected that, then fell back into his silence. |

Rourikan stretched his tiny wings widely, then proceeded to stretch the rest of his body, cat-like in his grace. Whiskers twitching, he turned to fix Sondraun with a steady gaze. "I will take you when you wish." It was the continuation of a conversation that they had been having for a few days, ever since Zerl had been along to visit and scout the sands of Darkling Dawn again. Rourikan had spoken - briefly it must be said - with Kesatilra and had been given the coordinates of Clan Akelara by the Wind dragoness. Now at that was left was for the two of them to decide when they wanted to leave. It wasn't an easy decision. Zerl was the only person either of them knew - and then only somewhat! - in Clan Akelara, where here they had slowly made friends with a small handful of beings. And at least there were Rourikan's siblings around, as well. Though as the days passed, they were leaving one by one, emptying out of the agency and heading back to wherever their bonds or caretakers were from. Rourikan's crest was also laid flat against his neck, a sure sign of his agitation and general unease about completely uprooting himself. "We'll manage, Rikan. If Zerl's a good representative of them, then the people at Clan Akelara will be as nice as those here." The dragon gave a short nod, giving the point to Sondraun, but otherwise speaking nothing. Sondraun leaned back against Rourikan, absently scratching the base of the blue's immense horns. "We'll leave in two days, then. That should give us time to pack and set everything in order here." "It shall be done, then." |
