This is the official website of TEATRO BALANGAW. An attempt to record the exploits, experiences and misadventures of a grassroots community theater group in a tiny island in the Philippines.

Nestling in the fabled, mystical, degraded, terrifying island of
MARINDUQUE, (that's right smack center of the archipelago), group members and friends are anywhere  there  to everywhere. Nurturing still that ol' TEATRO BALANGAW spirit.

'Balangaw' came forth in the spirit of volunteerism, especially among the young and the young at heart,  a desire glowing to make sense in a poor, feudalistic locale where nothing, no one must make a ripple... Or, if one must, then facing and surviving a curious, hopeless social-political tsunami is what awaits the intrepid -  that makes for some bigger stories, you will also find them here.

But wait! Since last year 2007, everything seems to have changed! Balangaw has been given the opportunity by Marinduque's new leaders, by a twist of fate,  to trrry to make sense a bit more! Now, we hardly have time to reconstruct this website to give updates on its new and more challenging tasks! The wheel of fortune  turns as our stomach still churns.

At Bahaghari the familiar spirits still roam spinning time with us...
