The Making of Terry Nation's Survivors Reviewer: Gareth "The book includes nine chapters. Its extremely well-researched, but it lacks an index and does have some faults in its structure. However, it remains a comprehensive guide to making of the series and demands to be re-published by a major publishing house. There is a chapter of cast interviews and a chapter of crew interviews. It includes written contributions from
cast and crew members including Pennant Roberts' PA, Adele Paul and reviews of the episodes by Anna (Agnes) Pitt , Tanya (Lizzie) Ronder, Julie (Wendy) Neubert, Anne (Jack Ronder's wife) Christie, Paul Mount and Kevin P Marshall. Apparently there were two attempts to revive the series by Ian McCulloch. The first in the late 1970's featured an invasion by an African state.This was apparently rejected on the grounds that it was racist.
In the early 1990's, McCulloch claims to have persuaded BBC Scotland to produce a revival of the series. This was to be filmed in southern Scotland and feature as many of the original cast members as possible including Carolyn Seymour. Apparently, there was support from most of the cast members. This time, it was said that the BBC in London rejected it as they preferred to invest in new ideas. I contacted BBC Scotland
around this time (early 1994) to find out the truth. I received a letter denying the whole thing and claiming they did not know where this rumour had started from!" | |||||||||||||||||
