Every thousand years a new Super Saiyan is born. In order to become a Super Saiyan, the warrior has to be of pure Saiyan blood, have a pure heart, and one with themself. During the Dragonball series, many characters have achieved this amazing power.
Super Saiyans
Goku - Enraged by the death of his friend Krillin, killed by the evil Frieza, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan. The first to achieve these powers in over one thousand years.
Trunks - (Older Trunks from the future) First showed his Super Saiyan abilities by easily defeating Frieze and King Cold. He was trained by Gohan in the future and was taught how to transform into the Super Saiyan state.
Vegeta - Always wanting to out-do Goku, Vegeta goes off to a far planet to train, since the planet had a strong gravitational pull. While training, a comet is heading toward the planet he is on. He tries to destroy the comet but isn't strong enough to destroy it (from all the training he did that day). He slams his fists down onto the ground and says he no longer wants to be a Super Saiyan and that is when he transforms.
Gohan - With the threat of Cell destroying Earth, Goku and Gohan begins to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. In the Time Chamber one normal day equals one year. Goku pushes Gohan to his abilities but goes easy on him at first. Gohan tells him to stop treating him like his son so Goku turns Super Saiyan and launches a Kamehameha toward Gohan. Behing overwhelmed by Goku's power, Gohan turns Super Saiyan and throws the Kamehameha back at Goku, barely missing him.
Trunks - (Younger Trunks) Achieved his Super Saiyan ability while being trained by his father, Vegeta.
Goten - The 2nd son of Goku. He also achieved his Super Siayan ability while being trained by Vegeta.
Gotenks - Before Goku has to return back to The Outer World, he teaches Goten and Trunks the abilty to fuse together. When fused, they form Gotenks and achieve SSL2. |
